BUY ONE BUY ONE BUY ONE BUY ONE BUY ONE
Shout the word GRAPHICS! at the top of your lungs and then hug the person you love more than anything afterwards. Then shout GRAPHICS! again.
That is what this card is like. Holy fucking shit. You would not believe how Project CARS looks with this card. You know how Gran Turismo's rendering style is described by Yamauchi as "like real life but better"? This actually is. Driving cars in this looks more amazing than driving in real life.
Oh my god, guys. I used to have a non-Ti GTX 660. Going from that to the 970 is like going from a Super Nintendo to a PS4. It's fucking bonkers what Nvidia is giving you for 350 bucks. The one I got is the non-superclocked EVGA ACX 2.0 version, and I immediately overclocked it to within 5% of the numbers pumped out by a 980. It's dead stable, cool running and whisper-quiet. It's like Nvidia only made the 980 because they felt they had to and didn't actually care about selling any.
There hasn't been a graphics card bargain like this since pretty much ever. I'll take some screenshots from CARS later on to share with you guys. Right now, I'm busy going HOLY FUCK at the way the Nvidia Gameworks fur renderer makes animals look in Far Cry 4.

I will stick with my 760. Not quite ready to orgasm.

I bought a GTX 970 right after they came out, to replace my GTX 560Ti which I had used as a test mule for aftermarket coolers and was starting to glitch out. To me, the most impressive thing about the GTX 970 is how effortlessly it maxes out everything, even at 1920x1200. Zero drama, zero stutter, just 60FPS.

What did you do with the old 660? I'd take it off your hands if you don't plan on selling it. My HD7770 is getting pretty terrible.

I've spent the past few days throwing all the games I have but could only run on low or medium settings and the 970 is maxing them out without any fuss and is like "is that all you got? Seriously?"
I was running Crysis 3 earlier at 1080p with everything set to very high and with 4x TXAA and in the hour I spent playing it the fucking fans on the EVGA ACX cooler didn't even turn on.
Do you know what it's like to feel like you've made a piece of technology bored? Because now I do.

I'd gladly sell it to you at a reasonable price if my girlfriend didn't literally take the card out of my hands as I was putting the 970 in and pop it into her machine so that she could play The Sims 4.
Also, I currently don't really have a girlfriend thanks to Maxis and their digital crack.

350 bucks? That's it, I'm jumping off a window. The same card costs over ten times here in Brazil.

Gaming anything, from what I've seen, costs a disturbing amount in Brazil, and it makes me sad. Brazil is a populous nation with a strong economy (that's only getting stronger to the point that many consider it a future superpower) that has little to no games industry to speak of, despite being the largest gaming market in Latin America. The more people in more places that are making games is good for the medium as a whole, and as someone who thinks that games are the absolute pinnacle of human artistic endeavor, Brazil is a whole bunch of wasted opportunity, and a lot of that is because of how expensive gaming is there.

Dude, that was about 4 years ago. Brazil has long since resumed its journey to the crapper, with the worst indicators since the early 2000's. Trust me, people've been saying Brazil is a future superpower since the early 70's and so far... nothing
As for the gaming market, the government figured out how large it was and decided to bundle it with the gambling market, which affords it a nice 120% in taxes. For the sake of comparison, the 50% off I got on my PC is less than the total of taxes I'd pay in total.

Someone needs to find a way to convince your government that tying games to gambling is somehow in a universe of magic why Greece went bankrupt.

Hahaha, that's not even the dumbest thing our government's done, it's not even in the top 100...
