"No, I don't thank you for the fish at all" (notindetroit)

There are a lot of people out there working today, whether retail, food/service or emergency response/military (or even office/corporate jobs) making sure the rest of us have a memorable holiday and making sure their own families can have the best Christmas they can provide (and in many cases not even being able to be there). Take a moment to remember them and give thanks, and to those of you on the job I hope you're able to take a break to enjoy the holiday as much as you can as well.

We live in Manhattan, so we order food a lot, Fresh Direct, Amazon Pantry, the wine store delivers, the pet store delivers, and on and on. I do not order anything on Christmas day. I want those people to be off (or if forced to work, to have next to nothing to do). I did service work post high school, and I know what it's like. And usually we tip 5 bucks for a delivery, but around Christmas we double it. These people work their asses off.
And we tip the building staff (10 of them!) at Christmas, but they make the trains run on time every day. So worth it.
