A 9. Even if the pin managed to work its way to the front of the lane, as long as it's standing, it's standing.
At least that's the official rules. If I owned a bowling alley, I'd still count it as a 9, but I'd give him a voucher for a year of free games. (breaking a pin in half would get you a lifetime of free games as well as half of the pin mounted on a plaque. The other half would be mounted above the lane where it happened with your name printed under it. I've thought way too much about this.)
