What is it? It's simple.

Take a Type 3 E-type V12, and stuff from a 4.0 liter XJR. Work on it for thousands of hours, and what you end up with is the most modern, daily driveable E-type one will ever see.

The list of modifications includes (but is not limited to):

- Jaguar V8 supercharged 4 liter with traction control, 5-speed automatic transmission
- Reinforced front suspension with adjustable shock absorbers , height-adjustable springs
- XJR independent rear suspension with progressive height-adjustable coil-over suspension
- Ventilated disc brakes with ABS
- Climate Control, Cruise Control, Rear Window Defogger
- Electric Windows, Interior mirror, automatically dimming
- Standard Jaguar security system with coded ignition key and central remote lock
- Full leather with fine carpeting
- Stainless steel fixings and full of wax impregnation for all cavities of the body
- Electronic control with all supporting computers and data display
- Electronically controlled rack and pinion power steering with electric power - pump
- Driver and front passenger airbags

Needless to say the results are quite impressive:

I really want to like that, but I just don't. Maybe in a XJS V8 but not the V12 E-Type.

It was good up until the center console steering wheel and dash. Other wise I love the rest of it!

That interior ruins the whole thing. Just my opinion...

Not a fan. The automatic and interior kill it. Half the fun in an E type is not having insane power and rowing it through the gears, and that interior is just awful.

Well to be fair, a vast -vast- majority of V12's had the 3-speed auto. So this is an improved experience.

I must be the only one who loves the interior! The level of quality and the way they integrated the interior from another car leave me kind of speechless.

The XJS isn't valuable enough to command such an upgrade. Whereas a V12 E-type is the right combination of pedigree (it's an E-Type...) and expendability (it's a type 3 V12, most likely automatic) that can result in such modifications.

This car is currently listed for 150 000€, with 160km covered since the "upgrade".

I hate it. It didn't fit the XK8 well either, and a non-functional airbag wheel (I call BS that they actually made it work....) and modern electronics look insanely out of place in a 50 year old car.

And it's an improvement over the V12/3, but if you're swapping in an engine, why not make it stick for the optimal experience?

But is it an upgrade? The original interior and the V12 are so much nicer and desirable.

Still an improvement over the series 3 interior:

But the V12 is a mess that will make a Jaguar mechanic's eyes bleed, and the original interior is not that great:

The Jaguar V12 is a work of art, a perfect combination of sounds, explosions and a unmatched sensation. That interior looks wonderful.

I don't know, that shop has a pretty good reputation, and placing the airbag sensors the same way they're placed on a new car doesn't seem impossible.

As for the stick thing, it's a grand tourer with a ton of torque so an auto kind of makes sense. And at the end of the day, this was probably the way the customer wanted it.

Plenty of room in the world for differing opinions. I bet it's fun to drive at any rate.

Why the heck did they start with the series 3 2+2?

It is all those things, but it is famous for being far less reliable than even their six cylinder. They can literally be in museum-quality shape, and still just go kaput when you try to start them.

I dig the engine swap, slushbox and all, but I wouldn't have done the interior change. The interior was one of the only remaining good parts in the S3 E Type. By the time it got there, the car was a grand tourer, not a sports car like the S1 and S2 FHCs, so the 5 speed auto is fine.

Cool car overall.

The Jag V12 is as intimidating an engine as there is, but that's all it is. It's a simple design, SOHC, not particularly high tech. It looks so much worse than it actually is...and honestly, in this application, it's carbureted, so it's WAY simpler than what you'd see in later fuelie Jags.

Also, S3 interior is legit. It's not so different from the earlier cars.

I'm actually OK with the interior, but not with the exterior. By the Series 3, the E-Type had lost its looks. For what has been done to this E-Type, I'd actually rather have a V12 XJS that's been updated by Knowles Wilkins. Rebuilt suspension, steering, electrics and engine with reliable components. The result is reliability, drivability and an extra 50hp.

Most likely because they would have been crucified doing this on a Series 1. The series 3 2+2 is expendable.

Also, I'm pretty sure 75% of the $180 000 asking price is labour and parts for the improvement. Starting from a series 1 or 2 would have increased the costs.

I've always wanted a Beacham Jaguar. Classic looks and modern reliability.

Especially a Mk2. They are now doing XK150 V8 s, which can't be a bad thing.

Original body is beautiful.

Engine, brakes and suspension upgrades are wonderful.

Interior creature comforts like A/C and power windows are great.

But I do not like the interior or the automatic. In fact, I really dislike the interior.
