The weird pitter-patter sound goes away after a couple minutes during a cold start, but what even is that sound to begin with??? And what about that squeal? Alternator/accessory, or a belt or pulley?

The squeal is likely a pulley. The other sound, well it sounds like you have a knock.

Sounds like a knock like Brian said. Does your car require premium? And what fuel octane are you using?

The squeal is probably a pulley or a belt. Usually that's pretty easy to fix, but I'm not sure if it is on the 944.

I would find some 944 forums and see if there are any weird sounds that are actually normal. The early builds of my car came with a head tick. Many thought this was a problem, but it's just a really noisy valvetrain. I thought my car was developing a knock. But it turned out to be my new clutch cable.

Knock is usually a symptom of detonation, of pre-ignition. Read this for more info,

It could be that you put too low of octane gas in your car.

It requires 87, And I put 89 in before storage.

I would try using a higher grade fuel if you can and see what happens. After you go through the current tank of gas. Just take it easy, it might only get worse if you work the engine really hard.

It only happens when the engine is cold for like 2 minutes. once it warms up the sound goes away. I'll go pick up some 93 and see what happens.

But if its cold, dont you want lower octane?

no. When it's cold you want a richer air fuel mix

That makes our sound like it might be carbon buildup in the combustion chamber. When it's cold the carbon is hard, and may contact the head or valves as the engine turns, thus making the noise. But as it warms the carbon will soften and stop making the noise. A fuel system cleaning service or something like GM Top End Cleaner should do the trick if that's what it is.

But if one of your pullies has a worn bearing it might make that you're of noise and a squeal as well.

To be honest though the squeal sounded more like an exhaust or compression leak to me, hopefully it's just the quality of the audio and ear buds throwing me off.
