Remember to clean the internals of your computers! Recently, I've noticed my games were running slow and randomly crashing. Today, I got a BIOS error that said my CPU was too hot. So I opened up the case, and everything was buried in so much dust that I could've used it to create a new planet. And now I can't stop sneezing...

I did this on the miata now i have 200hp. Pretty basic maintenance anyone should know how to do.
Seriously though does anyone know of a way to do it without using those retardedly expensive air cans?

I'm not sure I'd want to live on Dust Planet. Seems like allergen hell
My friend sold me her laptop because it kept crashing on her and was too slow. Cleaned out the dust and it worked perfectly. Couple years later she uses it and is like "wow you must've rebuilt this whole computer, it's super fast!"

Always dust things outside using compressed air or an air compressor. You blow the dust out while inside, and it'll just go right back there!

Never use a vacuum for this!

I tried cleaning my computer, so now I have about 15 more horsepower. Or about 150 MHz!
Also, what Calzone said. It worked for me in the hard to reach places.

Do you have an air compressor in your garage? If you use one though, don't aim it directly at the fans.

I've always used a vacuum.

Case filters, bruh. They're the shit. Got them on all of my intake fans, including my PSU. In 2 years time, there's probably about a month's worth of actual dust that gets built-up in my case.

It's bad to clean the inside of your computer with a vacuum cleaner because vacuuming creates a large static build up that could (and most likely will) discharge into the sensitive electronics inside your computer case. There are specialized vacuum cleaners designed for cleaning out computers and electronic equipment but given the limited amount of use a single user would get from such a purchase it's not a very wise one—they start at $300+ and can easily break the $1000 price barrier.

While you may never have experienced a problem, that does not mean it's safe and/or okay.

A customers laptop from about 3 years ago. That's just about the exact shape of the gap between the fan and heatsink.

I bought one of these.

Way more powerful than a can of compressed air, too. It's pretty fun knocking shit over with it. But seriously though, if you're cleaning your case out near your desk, make sure to move any small baubles you might have lying around, because if you accidentally point this in their direction, they will go flying. I'm not kidding.

Just use an air compressor if you have one. Works fine for desktops. For laptops, you're stuck with the stupid expensive cans of air, but it's all in the name of science safety.

Just use a pencil or screwdriver to stop them. Also, it's perfectly acceptable on fans provided it's not prolonged exposure. 3-5 seconds, no problem. Sitting there for 10 minutes to listen to the noise? No bueno.
Also, the only fans that are truly unsafe for these are the expensive ones that you'd know you have because you bought/installed them yourself (like fluid bearings, SSO bearings, etc).

haha I usually monthly clean, then engineering happened. 3 months later it became this. Even though it has filters upfront in the intake

Still... for three months that's nasty. Does your computer live in a vacuum cleaner or something?

I vacuum quite a bit, I have 8 non oem intake fans (that make a lot of noise) that take in soooooo much. They'll suck out a candle flame from a foot away
