I saw a "brodozer" get hit by a Honda Civic this morning. It was really just a tap, the hood of the Civic made contact with the hitch receiver of the lifted truck while approaching a red light. I have no idea why, but the damage was minimal if any to the truck. Anyway, they both pull off on the shoulder and the dude gets out of the truck and starts acting all pissed and aggressive. He walks with a very exaggerated posture, thrusting one shoulder in front of the other. It was just an older lady in the Civic, who by the way followed this dude onto the shoulder like she should. She didn't run away. I considered pulling over to support the lady, but I had to get to work, and Cro-Magnon man probably would have taken his rage out on me the same way he seemed intent to take it out on her. So yeah...if you get in wreck don't be a douche to the other person.

Asking a dude driving a brodozer to not be a douche is like asking a fish to grow lungs and start a new life on the surface world.

And yes you should have stopped. If he was getting aggressive with an old lady he was probably a pretty big wuss.

Can you get a fine for having a trailer hitch sticking out the back when you aren't towing anything?

That was the first time ever that tow hitch receiver has seen some action

I just pulled a random picture.
Maybe I should have stopped. It was a busy intersection on a busy highway during morning rush hour. Hopefully his aggressive posturing never went beyond that, but if it did, there would have been tons of witnesses.
The light turned green and I proceeded to work. Maybe I made the wrong call.

it was just the hitch receiver, I don't think there is any (easy) way to remove that.

I actually thought of this exactly! haha
So yes, an incredibly rare chance that evolution could one day lead to a bro's offspring far in the future developing some sort of self-awareness and end the douchebaggery that is so rampant in the broworld.

I figured you did. But still, lifted Dakota?
If there were that many people around she'll probably be fine.

Bro's gotta take his roid rage out somewhere.

I wouldn't think so. At most it sticks out a few inches, and a following motorist shouldn't be close enough to hit it anyways. I drive around with mine in somewhat regularly, and have never had an issue.

Receivers are removable, it's just that most people (especially trucks and SUVs) leave them in since they involve crawling under the car somewhat.

The hitch itself? Or the receiver tube. Because these come out with a pin, and are illegal to leave when not in use (in some states).
(if the image doesn't work, drop receiver tube...)

They're not really meant to be removed though, are they? I don't know anyone that removes their hitch receiver on a regular basis.

No, it was just the receiver tube.

The receiver is meant to be removed, yes. But based on the other posts, it looks like they didn't have one in afterall.

That's the "hitch" in your picture.

The hitch is supposed to stay, that's the permanent part. The receiver tube is the attachment with the ball on it. The receiver is supposed to be removed when not in use, but somewhere I read that something like 40% of people with trailer hitches have a receiver tube installed.
Technically you aren't supposed to have anything sticking out beyond the bumpers/fenders. Some states can deny you an inspection sticker for this. (obvious things like mirrors aside)

This. I suppose there's a chance that didn't have 'roid rage written all over it. But it's a really thin chance.

Maybe I'm using the term wrong, but I've always heard that part referred to as a hitch receiver, and google seems to agree with me.

Whoops, maybe I'm using the term wrong! Hitch and Receiver seem to go hand in hand, what I'm calling a receiver seems to actually be a "Ball Mount"...
