Lets sit on the floor in a nice circular formation. Lying on your belly is optional. Its dark. You're surrounded by judgmental best friends. Its time to share secrets.
What car are you embarrassed to admit that you want and/or own and why you want that ?
For me it is the Jeep Patriot 4x4. It is such an odd car and I like odd cars (as evidenced by three Saabs) I have a soft spot for undesired cars and compact SUVs or crossovers.
I would rock one but I didn't because I found my current Saab and just loved it a bit more.
I know it is not the best off roader but i think it is pretty damn capable for what it is.

Huh.. well.. I'm known for my love for odd/strange/quirky cars.. BUT, I AM embarrassed about the fact that I'd REALLY want a Cadillac Allanté.
Now WHY do you want that you ask? Well, I think it's a good looking car actually, and it's got a V8, and it just SO beverly hills in the eighties.

I'm not really embarrassed about it but my desire for a big mid-60s convertible is out of character as I normally am not a convertible or a big car guy. A Buick Wildcat like this one would be just fine.

A Mercury Capri.
Not that one (There would be a picture of a Fox Capri here, but Kinja).
Not that one either (There would be a picture of a Ford Capri here but again, Kinja).
The little two seat roadster one (something something something, Kinja).
A friend of mine had one in high school, and I've always thought they were kinda cool. I'd look absolutely ridiculous driving one, like a bear riding a tiny bicycle, but I'd like one some day if they haven't all rusted by the time I get that far down my "cars I'd like to own" list.

Related to yours:
Jeep Compass Rallye.
I went THIS close to get a brand-new one (like, contract-on-the-desk close), but for various reasons, I didn't.
4wd, manual, torquey 2.4L, it handled nicely...
Cheapo interior, but hey.
AND, I had a plan for it: It's based on the Caliber's chassis, and most of the drivetrain is actually similar.
SO, I wanted to take the turbocharged 2.4 out of a SRT4 Caliber, mod it, pair it with the AWD system and end up with an STI killer.

Also, it looks like all the...I hesitate to call them 3rd gen Capris, but here we are, they're all red or teal. Might as well maximise you're frilliness, I suppose.

I just bought my "ashamed to want one" car, a 2003 tahoe 4x4, and it's magnificent.
Nothing really wrong with them for what they are. But I've had sports cars and imports for the last 15 years. The garage has a fleet of fast motorcycles and two miatas in it now. The gti just left the stable as did the severely tuned civic coupe. And my last 4x4 was a very flexy very modified full locker jeep yj. So the shame of buying a soccer mom SUV almost killed me.
Thing is, it's freaking fabulous! Milage is better than you would think, loads of cargo capacity, and almost annoyingly good off road. And the best part, it flies totaly under the radar, which is handy when you have 30k of cameras and kit stacked up in the back.

It looks like a truck, but it's unibody and only comes with a V6 and it's all wheel drive not 4 wheel drive. The bodywork from the cab to the bed is what I like to call "functionally ugly". Add to that where I live anything with a bed that doesn't have a Ford, Dodge/Ram, or Chevy badge means the locals will look down on me, but I still really think I may get a Honda Ridgeline.

I have a lot. Mostly obscure '80s and '90s GM crap that I find nostalgic, like the Chevrolet Corsica. It was my mom's first brand new car ever and I practically grew up in one. They always remind me of her and she's been gone since 2001. So, they hold a place in my heart. But recently, I've rediscovered my love for these:
Pretty quick, comfy as hell, nice looking (in my opinion), lots of options for their age, etc. My stepmom had a '99 Millenia S and I absoltely hated her but she had a sweet car so that made putting up with her a bit easier. Those Miller Cycle supercharged V6s the Millenia S came with are very picky with their maintenance, though. My stepmom's eventually blew up and I smiled. Even when it failed, I liked that car. Because it inconvenienced her. Haha

the fifth gen accord
Specifically one that looks like this (a 96 special edition with heather mist metallic paint and steelies role up windows and manual locks) Why? Because it was supposed to be my first car but I chose to sell it before actually driving it because I thought I could get something nicer (5 years later and still nothing). At the time I didn't realize how much the car really meant to me. My parent's only bought in 96 because the baby (me) was kind of hard to get out of the rear of a Toyota Tercel 2dr (the other car I want) and with another one in the works (my brother) they had to get a car. This was the car my siblings and I grew up, trips to family in Jersey on Friday nights, getting Wendy's chicken nuggets on the way back (we weren't aloud to eat in the newer cars since they were new and my moms), grocery shopping, pretending to drive, and fighting over whose crayon it was that melted in the cup-holder. At the time we sold the car I only cared about what I could get but now I realize what I had lost. This car represented life before the "I want and I have" phase of my life. This car is a reminder to a simpler time. Hopefully one day I can find one that isn't rusted and riced out or maybe the one we sold (apparently my dad saw it rolling around ) and restore it.
Oh and the Tercel because I thought it was a sports car when I was four because of the economy cloth seats (racing seats), 2 doors, and the racket it made going down the highway at speed (especially when the windows were rolled down because no AC). I really just want to pretend its a sports car again for the giggles this time (it sure made my dad laugh whenever I asked him).
I want one just like this (including the back things on the seat) except in white.

I refuse to be ashamed about my automotive desires, but most would probably say I should be ashamed for kinda wanting a Pontiac Aztek. Yes, it's ugly, but the creativity of its features were awesome. From Wikipedia:
The Aztek was able to carry within its interior a standard 4 feet (1.2 m) by 8 feet (2.4 m) sheet of plywood and was available with two rear cargo area options: a pull-out cargo tray that held up to 400 pounds (180 kg) that rolled on built-in wheels when removed from the vehicle, or a versatile cargo net system that held up to 200 pounds (91 kg) and could be configured (a claimed) 22 different ways. Options included a center console that doubled as a removable cooler and a tent/inflatable mattress package that, along with a built-in air compressor , allowed the Aztek to double as a camper . Extending this image was a seat-back mounted backpack , and a number of specialty racks for bicycles , canoes , snowboards , and other such items. An optional 10 speaker Pioneer stereo system provided a set of controls located at the rear of the vehicle for tail-gate parties as well as an unusual 2-piece tailgate with built-in cup-holders and contoured seating area for added comfort.

I have to giulty automotive pleasures.
One an SRT4 Caliber. I know is Ugly, I know it has a cheap interior, I know it's just a "manlier" PT Loser GT. But it's stupid, and has lots of cargo room, and rear leg room, and 280hp, and lots of boosty fun, and it was just fun to drive despite it's faults... like it's totally numb shift linkage.
the second is a Baja. on the condition that it is a Baja Turbo and has a manual trans. The hardest part would be deciding to lower it of lift it.

Oh yes the Capri. Fords "American" answer to the Miata. That was build and designed in Australia, used a Mazda engine, and had a convertible top mechanism designed by Ford's German design team. It really is an international car.
It's also note worthy that the car wasn't originally supposed to me a Mercury. It was going to be a Ford, but since it had to be built in Australia they had to make it a Mercury to cover the cost of importing the car.

One of my buddies has one with the 5speed. It's slower than dog shit, but it's a neat little car and the gas mileage is insane. Plus, being all-aluminum, it won't rust, which IMO is an almost greater trait than its superb fuel economy.

5th gen Accords are actually great cars. I loved driving mine. I didn't however love the, tan interior, or the white exterior, or the cancer eating away at it's driver's side rear fender. But it was a nice car. If it wasn't for the rust I'd still be driving it.

I like the Ridgeline to. My Dad actually came close to buying one, but he found a good deal on a used Tacoma with a 5 speed and went with that instead. My biggest problem with the Honda is it gets half ton truck mileage(or worse), but only has midsized SUV power.

That's the thing I hate about letting my accord go, it was a rust free body that could easily have served the base for a honda sleeper stock interior and exterior (steelies, hub caps and even muffler) with a k24 /k20 swap. Hopefully the current owner doesn't kill it before I find it again.
