If this is really that low mileage....I'm tempted to see if he wants to trade for one of my cars. I know nothing about these, but I like how it looks, and i've been wanting some slow American thing. Yes I just posted the Volvo 740 as well, I'm extremely unfocussed.

My first car was its 4 door cousin the Malibu. Same color and everything. Only had 17,000 miles when I got it in 1997.

I would question as to whether the mileage is correct when he isn't even sure if the engine is a 350 or a 305. I'd put money on 305, or as he calls it the 5.0. The mileage is conceivable if it was owned by an elderly person.

Well the only V8 offered was a 305, so I'd hope it's that haha. I'm assuming he just don't know domestics very well, therefore isn't familiar with cubic inches in relation to litres. Or it's a typo. But yeah, I'll get the vin and try and find out the actual mileage

Wikipedia is giving me conflicting info....in one section it says only the 395 was offered, and in another it says the 305 and the 350 were

That's weird, but it says the Nova had the 350 available so I'd think the Pontiac would too. He does say it's a 4bbl and it looks like a stock air cleaner so that would imply a 350 if he knows the difference and the carb is stock. Interesting...

VIN decodes to a 2 barrel 305.
You'd have to see it. It may have been swapped to a Holley or something.

That makes sense as the 305 was probably sold in much higher numbers than the 350 which is why that was my first instinct.

Yeah, my only issue with going by "factory doc" stems from this being a Canadian car.
They got different configurations than the USA at times. I want to say the late 70s-early 80s Camaros and Vettes were different.
If you REALLY cared you can call George at GM VVS in Oshawa with the VIN and get the papers for the car. But it's probably easier just to go see it. And let's be real- that engine ain't staying stock for long.

Not really my thing as my project car quota is full (unfortunately at 1 due to my lack of garage space) but it might not be a bad project for somebody who wants to build a sleeper on the cheap.
