so on my own mistake, when I bought my brand new FoST, before leaving I noticed a small couple of chips in the paint inside the door.

Tried planning to get it fixed a couple times on Saturdays to get it done since weekdays are difficult for me.

Cancelleld those. Now planned for this week Monday, but I fear they will be doing just touch ups instead of properly sanding and blending into the rest. Is that an unrealistic expectation?

They were telling me the work would be done Tuesday morning and I could pick it up Wednesday. Don't see how that could all be done in a day. That and he said it may have to spend time outside, so how would a real paint job cure properly outside in the cold with contaminants in the air?

Thoughts? Do I need to get the hammer out on them?

Yeah that's not going to be a real paint job unless you told them specifically that's what you wanted. Is this warranty work, or are you paying for it?

Honestly I'm surprised they are doing it as warranty, unless you pointed it out before you look delivery. Paint chips aren't generally covered.

noticed it before I got in it to drive away. They wrote up some paperwork for it?

Then you might be ok.

So do I demand a proper paint job?

To be honest that could easily be done in a day. Touch in with a 60/40 mix of lacquer and paint, dry with an infrared lamp then use a wet sand block to flatten it back and then fine compound it and then polish up. Not even a 'smart repair' is needed. Sure it's in an awkward place but it doesn't look too bad or deep and there is no bending or creasing in the door edge so clean, fill back and then polish.

A more detailed guide into getting it done.

I would bet my paycheck they are just going to do a touchup for you. I can't see them repainting the entire door on their dime. They may blob paint on with a brush, then wet sand and buff it so that it's level with the rest of the paint. I would rather them do that than repaint the whole thing (or even the just the edge and try to blend it).

Yeah I wouldn't want the whole door repainted. I'll have to ask what they plan to do
