Through the snow, my friend drove me to Kansas City for my flight home to Massachusetts. Holy shit, no one knew how to drive in the snow. Cars and trucks off on I70 everywhere. By the way he was driving a Cobalt SS, the supercharged one, with no issues, through this weather.

Anyway, at the cargo terminal I saw big. Second largest plane in the world big. The Antonov An-124 'Ruslan'. This Condor, as it's known to NATO, is operated by Volga-Dnepr. No idea why it was there.

It's not the first time I've seen the An-124. I've seen them fairly often when I was in Afghanistan and I've also seen one in Germany, I can't find my picture of that one. But seeing one in the US, that's new. I can't imagine deicing that.

Previously I've seen a couple C-17s and KC-135s there too.

Excuse the shitty pictures, taken by my iPhone.

At Oshkosh sometime in the 80s they had one parked on the same ramp as a C-5B. That would have been awesome to see.

I saw them parked like that in Afghanistan once. I really, really, REALLY wish I had brought my SLR to work that day.

I've seen it in Wichita a few times. The 225 was here about 2 years ago as well. That one is insane. I can't believe mankind made something as large as the 225 fly.

I've yet to see Mriya. It's on my spotting bucket list.

I can assure you, your friend has different tires on the Cobalt. Mine was a tank in the snow on Blizzaks.

Which are still better than the stock summer-only Pirellis...

I love living in the future; just search for An-124 and Kansas City and I find that:

He's in KC to pick up a pair of self-contained laboratories for Ebola work in Sierra Leon.

To be fair it wasn't a case of me being too lazy to look up why a Condor was in KC, as much as it was me just not caring why.

That's pretty cool though. Wish I was able to see the takeoff roll.

Oh no, that wasn't anything against you. I'm just amazed sometimes at what you can find with the smallest bits of info.

Gotcha. Yeah it is pretty impressive. Much like the aircraft!

It was carrying aircraft wings to Belgium, stopped for fuel there. I don't know why it stopped there, it came from Tulsa.
