What's the first rule of Oppo?
And what's the difference between his facebook post and when people post on Oppo with personal stuff?
Seriously, don't be a dick.

wait, he posted....on facebook...about his life, considers a kickstarter to fund a legal battle (common enough these days) and this offends you? I must be missing something.

i know facebook is public, and I thought that it was funny that people think its weird that people who get perks become conditioned to getting perks. Whats your point again?

Jalopnik =/= oppo. They are welcome to do as they please.

Oppo rules don't apply to Jalopnik. If Travis wants to publicly call out his colleagues, that's his business.

no sorry, what was your point again ?
Caswell posted a PUBLIC comment, and I reposted it with my comments, not even as bad as what Travis did, and what was your point again ?

hey, hello, The Caswell comment I posted was PUBLIC
Thats why you can see it.
Else, I would have had to post a screen capture, like Travis did, but I would have blurred the names.

I'm trying to figure out what offends you about casewell's post. I'm sorry what Travis did offended you, that's not in my control. p.s. using anything on Jalopnik as justification for actions on oppo doesn't fly, they do their thing, we do ours. Taking a public comment and re-posting it isn't a problem, neither is adding your own comments. The part I take exception to is the personal attack on someone for something that doesn't personally affect you. This would be like me finding a post from someone that said "man, rough day". And re-posting it here and telling US that I think he should stop being a pussy.
to make it clear for you. MY POINT is to help you understand that this type of shit doesn't fly here.

as far as I'm concerned, you're doing nothing bad here.
Keep it up, just be careful not to attack other opponauts
Thanks

I don't recall reading or posting on that topic.
Also, FP isn't Oppo.

It's kind of sad when you are trying to crowd fund for something dealing with the divorce that you caused, because you've avoided your family.

I thought Caswell rage-quit Facebook?

Because Caswell is covered extensively on Jalopnik and he is a public figure like any other racecar driver or public personality. He isn't some nobody; no name person from oppo.
If Jeremy Clarkson posted about crowdfunding money for a divorce he caused because he was too busy partying like a 17 year old, it would be news and people would talk about how sad and pathetic it was.
If Ken Block posted about crowdfunding money for a divorce he caused because he was too busy partying like a 17 year old, it would be news and people would talk about how sad and pathetic it was.
If Jeff Gordon posted about crowdfunding money for a divorce he caused because he was too busy partying like a 17 year old, it would be news and people would talk about how sad and pathetic it was.
If Fernando Alonso posted about crowdfunding money for a divorce he caused because he was too busy partying like a 17 year old, it would be news and people would talk about how sad and pathetic it was.
Back to vacation.

Looks like his wife rage-quit their 12 year relationship since he wanted to be Peter Pan.

He is a public figure and a racecar drive they are going to make a movie out of. He is not some random person who posts on Oppo. That's the difference.

Bill posts in the Kinja-sphere a bit, while he may not have posted it on here he is a member of this area. What does the fact that he's someone well known have to do with anything? He's a person just like you, myself, and anyone else who could post something just like it.
So let me say it again with more emphasis: It doesn't matter if the person posting said personal stuff is famous or a Keyboard Kommando: Don't be a dick.

Calling someone sad who is in fact sad is not being a dick, though.
Potato, potatoe, I am going back to looking at carporn. Cheers.

Im sorry you're so angry, but I'm not entirely sure what I did to offend you? And I'm sure I dont need to point out the obvious.... but Facebook is optional.
The other thing is.... why post something like this on Oppo? I dont care that you're sharing my Facebook page, this is just a bad post that has nothing to do with cars. Why even put it on Oppo? Unless you dislike me so much that it's fun for you to try to put me down? Can't you find something fun or positive to do with your life? Maybe wrench on car? Go for a drive?
Now today's post is something I would expect you to share. Its about cars. I want to send one person racing for the summer in rally, wheel to wheel, and hill climb. Here's the link:
https://www.facebook.com/caswell318/pho…
And so to attempt to fix this lame post that has nothing to do with cars....(I love Oppo and dont want to see it become like the comments on YouTube) I leave you with this Nurburgring awesomeness in hopes that is sort of makes this post better a little better for others. And with some luck I'll find a way to raise the cash for this years 24hrs race. I think my qualification is only good for one more year but I can tell you that racing, let alone winning, has been a dream of mine since I first found out that regular people can race cars too. And hammering the Ring in this Audi RS4 as the sun was setting was amazing. Something I'll never forget.

No doubt! Facebook is optional. Funny that he even follows me? Like waiting for a moment to post something negative.
A few years ago Kate's dirty kitty would have bothered me, but after doing nothing but playing with cars, building cars, and racing cars for the last 5 year with no job.....man, some comment from some random that has probably never wrenched on a car in his entire life just seems pathetic. Especially when I realize my Facebook post was the most interesting thing he had to share on Oppo....

Right? But its all good. Its my life and I've been sharing all of it since this started 4 years ago. I think its disingenuous to share awesome wins at the Nurburgring and cool road trips with my friends without showing the other side of my life which can be more difficult and challenging than anyone might realize. Thanks for speaking up and keeping Oppo fun!

Something like that...I won my class at the Nurburgring and completed my 5 year journey that started with a $500 car and my friends in my moms garage. Racing at the Nurburbring was my F1, my LeMans. And I got there in 5 years. Sure there are tons of races I want to enter but Im done with my run - thats what ended.
Now Im helping other drivers. I'm caging three cars this month for friends. Im putting together a program to send someone in my footsteps. So yeah Im done self promoting my racing on Facebook. I've entered like 3 races since the summer... They were fun. Didn't really care that no one heard about them. I had a great time racing with some cool guys. Make sense?

Im not sure you are smart enough to understand. Its ok though because all we need in Oppo is a general love of cars to get along and play nice. But you dont seem to understand that either...

Good to hear. I heard rumors about you leaving on bad terms, but it's good to see that you're still in the sport.
