edit: sold. Thanks Oppo.
Please? Shameless plug. :) Need the funds for Ice Racing and another vehicle in the near future. My 924 is also for sale but that's too embarrassing to post here.

I would love to, but no spare monies and my stable is full. I love these cars.

Partly the reason I'm selling. I'm up to four cars right now and I would ideally love to have half as much.

Dammit! Do you know what this means????
This means I'm the LAST 944 owner on Oppo... ;_;

I'd much rather this car be ice raced.

Well.. last *running* 944 owner on Oppo. Aaron Brown still has his, but it sits engine-less in a warehouse.

What about ice racing a miata? because that might be a thing that happens when I buy my mom's NB in the near future

Yes. That's what I want to do. Let me live vicariously through you. I wonder what their convertible policy is.

I doubt they'd have a restriction considering the flip over risk is so so small on a frozen lake

Such a great car. Such high maintenance costs *sigh

Last running 944 on Oppo is no better! :(
Also, I noticed that at the end of your ad, you said "Needs to be gone before 2014." I think you meant "Needs to be gone by end of 2014"
Brian Silvestro

But they're still probably all "safety comes first" and such about it. Which is why the 944 would be better for it. I have a few comments about the ad:
10/10 would buy NP if I had space/money, I fucking love that color
240SX? Why not 240/280Z?? Or any RWD Corolla?? (another possible for me)
"Needs to be gone before 2014." lol

True... Hmmm.
:P Thanks.
The 280Z and 240Z are too old for my tastes at least for now. RWD Corolla maybe but I doubt anyone would come offer me an 86 for a 944. Someone did offer me a "meh" MK3 supra though but I wasn't really interested.
Yeah I want it gone ASAP so I can get the monies for my mom's NB

They're not terrible, if you get a good example. The biggest simple upkeep cost is the major timing belt service...

Yeah I'm not really interested in the older Supras, and the Mk4s are investment cars nowadays. I'd buy this though: http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/cto/478653…
When you get the NB, first things you need are a skidplate, mudflaps, a set of gravel tires, and a set of snow tires. And a hardtop. Then you'll literally take first at every rallycross event and be competitive at nationals (every stock RWD car that showed up at nationals this year was a Miata)

Don't I need some sort of roll bar or cage for RallyX? If I can get away with just a hardtop that would be awesome, but yet again I bought the subaru for a reason...
Brian Silvestro

Nope. The Rules state that any convertible with a hardtop in place can participate. (but safety stewards have the last say if a car can safely negotiate the course)
We both know a RWD Miata will be more fun (and stand out more/be unique) at RallyX than just another Subaru will. Plus it's still a very competitive car.

That's good to know. Hardtops aren't cheap though.
I guess... hmmm

Every 30k miles right? And it is like 2k?
Mathias Rios

I think the belt is every 30-60k. The pulleys and stuff are 60k including the water pump. Nah it's not nearly 2k. It's only near that much if you take it somewhere, but if you own this car you should really be wrenching on it yourself. It's about 600 dollars in parts I believe every 60k miles... Apart from that they are decently reliable cars if you treat them properly.

You could always just have both.
Use the Subaru for ice racing, the muddier, wetter, and snow covered rallycrosses, while using the Miata for the faster drier courses (like the Poughkeepsie region RallyX)

Yeah we shall see. My mom has to get another car first (she's looking at mini's for some reason) before I can buy her NB

600 is pretty reasonable for a major service. I always heard you had to buy special tools to get the tension just right on the belt.

luckily the cars are kept outside of NYC with only one being in the alternate side parking fold daily

If you're smart enough you can use standard tools to set the tension. Basically you just use the belt deflection (90 degrees for the T-belt and 180 for the balance shaft) as your guide and you can pretty much set it by hand. I did it this way on a friends 944, with no issues for a few months until the engine threw a rod (unrelated)

Oh man, that is awesome. Love the color. Have the money, but I have nowhere to put it and, possibly worse, no time to drive it (grad student). I feel like all I've been doing for the past year is staring at 944s on Craigslist....

And to think, just yesterday I had that much from my Christmas bonus sitting in my checking account.... but sadly I must do the responsible thing and keep my eyes on my house building plans. After that though it's project car time and a 944 in similar condition is very near the top of my list... good luck on the sale!
