I'm thinking about tech solutions for my upcoming minivan. DVD is a life saver on long trips, but I'm generally not inclined to drop $400-600 for a factory setup with limited functionality. Enter tablets and miricast.
With decent HP tablets now available for $100, a pair of the versatile slates are a great solution. My main question is whether I can stream through miricast to multiple units. For example, streaming from a source in the passenger seat (phone, tablet, computer, xbmc pi) to two tablets mounted in the rear.
Phyrxes once again has a wagon!

I run something like this at home using Plex, which has roku and android support. But if you don't want to spend money to cache the files locally the tablet will need WiFi access. I haven't played around with this in a localized network but like you I will soon be looking for a tablet based in car streaming solution.
