A couple weeks ago, we finally had a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I was on the fence whether or not to eat there because !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but I caved in a few days after they opened. But only because my gf and I were !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
The next day, I mentioned in a meeting that I had gone to Chick-fil-A in spite of my dislike of their CEO's opinions on certain issues. Today, my boss gave me a holiday card with the $10 Chick-fil-A gift card above, and the comment, "I hope you can put aside your feelings for the Chick-fil-A CEO and have lunch on me!"
I suppose I'll be eating another of your chicken sandwiches (for free), you gay-hating prick.
EDIT: Apparently the guy has !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Of course, this part of the story got a whole lot less attention, and I didn't know about it. I suppose that's good enough for me.

the politics suck, but those chicken sandwiches are bangin. If you saw where your dollars go for everything you buy on a daily basis but might be less vocal about it, you would be living off the grid and farming your own food before you got halfway down the list

If there was a Chik-Fil-A in my area I would just go with this. Its a chicken sandwich, it has no political beliefs, because its a sandwich, its a corporation filled with thousands of people all of which have different beliefs.
If you like the chicken sandwich, eat the damn sandwich.

Never eaten there because (besides the high likelihood that my non-hetero heathen ass will probably be struck by lightning shortly after stepping inside) all I need in my life is another fast food chicken/sweet tea guilty pleasure. But a friend of mine in Chicago rationalizes his enjoyment with the knowledge that the owner of the local franchise publicly disagrees with the CEO's statements and makes large donations to LGBT causes, among others.

Chic-fil-a sauce will always outweigh one ignorant prick's point-of-view.
There are gay people who work at Chic-fil-a. Just because the CEO is a bigot in his personal views, doesn't mean you shouldn't eat there. If the company started discriminating against customers, then you'd have a legitimate reason to withhold your business from them.

What pisses me off most is when people say they hate the company, but then they eat there regularly. I mean, sure their food is good, but really? I love those sandwiches, but I only ever eat there on my birthday, because they give it to me for free. And I can totally understand you going there since it's new to the area. But god damn it, people, if you REALLY care about this shit, you wouldn't eat there every damn weekend. It's like no one actually cares...

Might as well just eat what you like, because avoiding businesses based on political stance is going to end up leading to hypocrisy. Also, most CEOs are assholes. It's kind of in the job description. #notallceos

Except for when those people use their excessive wealth to buy their opinion into politics, which is something that the owners of said establishment have done.
I do not agree with their stance, but they are entitled to have their own opinion about things. When they start forcing their opinion on others just because they have the means to do so is when I take issue and stop giving them more money to further their cause.

The amazing thing about American consumerism is that at the end of the line we truly don;t give a shit about our convictions and will accept service or goods from entities which we profess extreme distaste and hatred towards.

Although I do try to avoid distasteful companies whenever and wherever I can (I'm looking at you Hobby Lobby, you fucks) if I refused service from every company/company CEO that I hated, I might as well just move to the mountains and live with the forest folk. I hate TWC and AT&T for their price gouging, anti-competitive behavior, lobbying bullshit and their hatred of net neutrality - but TWC is the only option in my entire area for broadband internet and AT&T is the only wireless carrier that a) supports my phone and b) actually has service where I live.
And then there's MS, long one of the prime examples of monopolistic behavior, but I have a desktop, a tablet and a phone that all run on MS software.

They have something like 2000 locations. If you take the demographics of their employee base you'll find it aligns with the rest of the country. The CEO is a very visible member, but it's not like everyone who works there is a brainwashed drone.
Just eat it.
Also, from all the tons of folks I know who worked in fast food through the years, Chick-fil-a was definitely touted as treating their employees the best (second would be Firehouse Subs).
If you really can't get over your hangup, but really just love the taste...it's just brined chicken. Soak some chicken breasts in pickle juice for a couple days and fry them for the same effect.

Their sandwiches are good but their breakfast is the best of any fast-food joint. Try it! Their CEO could come out as being anti-everyone and have video records of him flinging kittens off of a cliff and I would STILL eat their chicken. How can you say no to chick-n-minis in the morning? You realize that you put yourself on his level when you name call. You mock and deride him for having a different opinion from you, just like he derides people who are different than him. His opinion is just a valid as yours. And he is not a lesser human or a more evil human just because he is against gay marriage, in the same way you are not a better or holier human for supporting gay marriage.
It takes all types to make the world go around. Jump on down off your high horse, either enjoy the food or don't and get on with your life. Save the politicking for Gawker.

One of the currently two Chick-Fil-A restaurants in downtown Chicago is two blocks from our place. Being from Alabama, this makes me very happy. The fact that the CEO, and Cathy family as a whole, are right wing nutjobs means I have been torn a time or two, but the food is just too good, and my occasional meal or two purchase is but a drop in their bucket. Plus the one by us here is owned by a woman who actually has spoken out against some of the Cathy family values. So there's that at least.

People don't seem to care enough about other things, like CEOs exploiting overseas labor. It would be nice if activists were at least consistent. Instead the guy boycotting Chic-fil-A is tweeting from his iPhone. But some asshole kicks his dog, and shit is now real. Think about that. N.I.M.B.Y. always wins.
