Haha, was just looking at that Jeep. And was wondering: Did any of you actually buy anything from BaT-auctions (because this Jeep is really tempting!)?

For now I am but a college student filled with wishful ideas. They've done a couple follow–ups with buyers though and they've all been very satisfied with the auctions.

There was one of those FCs at an estate sale near me a year or so ago, I still regret not trying to bid on it, I can't remember the exact price but it went way cheaper than it should have.

They're so cool, especially since it's unlikely anything like that will ever be made again, given existing safety regulations.

Damn. What do you guess the M3 goes for?

I'm really awful at making guesses about this sort of thing, nor do I have any knowledge about how much value the Dinan bits will ad. I'm going to guess $35k.

It's a great example, but often aftermarket bits really don't bring much additional $$. I'd guess it will land somewhere between $25-30k in the end. Are BaT auctions no-reserve?

Well when the auction is over we'll have to see who was closer!
The reserve (or lack thereof) is at the discretion of the individual seller. I'm also fairly certain that any sort of information about the reserve, e.g. if it exists, what the amount is, how close current bids are, is also at the discretion of the seller. Fortunately most sellers are pretty upfront about it, and usually if it's close to reserve or reaches reserve they'll make a comment. My favorite part about the BaT auctions is watching the interaction between the seller, bidders, and the extremely knowledgeable readership.

I would expect nothing else from someone who goes by JeepJeremy!

I'm interested to know, but probably won't remember - hit me up with a response with the sale price when it closes - thanks.

I feel like the auctions are sort of killing the rest of the offerings on the site. most of the digest emails are just auction posts now.

I always just trawled the site manually, so I wouldn't know anything about the emails. I haven't really been a super avid reader in the last couple months or so, would you say the selection of listings has declined? Also, I think you have to give them some credit for holding some pretty kickass options. Cool stuff at a wide range of prices.

Oh it's still a great site, definitely still a daily read for me. But the number of cars shown outside of auctions seems to have declined. Used to be there were 4-7 a day or so, and now, it's usually the big long auction post plus 1, maybe 2 cars. I think the auction format has proven profitable for both site & sellers, so they probably push in that direction.

Going back and looking at the posts it seems they've probably had a slight reduction in average posts per day, but they've still got some heavy days. I count 10 on the 17th and 9 on the 16th, plus auction posts on both days.

Yeah, safety regulations upset me. Like really, how is that truck any more dangerous than a motorcycle? The government is perfectly okay with letting thousands of people drive a little two wheeled metal frame with a motor, but heaven forbid we drive something like this.
