They still make trucks for the US occasionally, they're just usually badged as GMs.

My first vehicle was a '91 Trooper XS. I can attest to both its excellent off-road abilities and its proclivity to go two-wheels-bad when cornered hard.

I really need to get into my old photo albums and do some scanning. My time with the Trooper ended before digital cameras were popular so I don't have anything in digital form.

My Dad had one of those that he bought new before I was born. I remember it going about 70k miles, then needing a new engine. Then that engine went 40k, and he sold it. And apparently he was just lucky because it didn't rust to death before 100k miles.

Ah good ol Trooper. I loved the look of them as a child but I remember them becoming quite rare due to terrible reliability (friends dad had one and replaced it with an S10 Blazer) and expensive difficult to source parts. This was a 91 model year seems like the earlier ones were better.

Fun story time. My fiend's first car was his dad's 90-ish trooper. It was a manual so a big plus. One day after we were done puting out flyers at an apartment complex we swung by another friend's house so he could pick something up. We got bored waiting while he was inside and someone suggested we just leave as a joke. I hopped in the drivers seat and slowly drove down the street, turned around and parked behind another car. We could clearly see the house but couldn't easily be seen. We basically made our own hidden camera show about getting your car stolen minus theft and cameras. We let him sweat for a few minutes and I returned the trooper. It was funny watching him pace and flail in frustration. He wasn't amused.

I call this version of the Trooper "The Steel Hallway." It's all box.
I liked the newer generation better, since it looked sleeker and could get out of its own way.
Also, Isuzu is definitely still in existence. They still sell medium-duty cab-over commercial vehicles in the US, I believe. Plus, DMAX is a 50-50 GM-Isuzu JV that supplies GM's full size pickups with their HD diesels. They just don't do light trucks anymore in the US. Not since 2009. Kinda like IHC/Navistar after 1980.

My mom had a late 90's trooper back in the late 90's. I looked at one before I bought my car. Fucking tanks. Love 'em.
