Is it worth picking this up? I know it's going to be good, but I already have Project CARS pre-ordered and I'm not sure how much use I'll get out of it once pCARS is released.

From what I understand, Project Cars is more about the details and realism than the content, and AC is more of a simulator.

I could be wrong, but who cares I want both anyway.

The force feedback mapping is excellent (seriously, it's the best thing about it), and the graphics are very good. The physics are okay, but not iRacing good, but the AI of the bots isn't that good in my opinion. I kind of like the drift challenges, but they can get old. I think that iRacing has multiplayer down pretty perfectly. AC might be able to carve a niche with a good single player sim, but I don't think it's there yet.

Graphical realism? I would think that a sim would be realistic...

I have only played single player, but I might try multiplayer now that I have a wheel. Keep in mind I have been playing a modded version of Shift 2: Unleashed so most AI are better (dammit I'm on the racing line quit rear-ending me!).

Well AC is officially done so you might as well pick it up and cancel your Project Cars pre order. No point giving them your money now at the expense of another game.

Also you seem to be putting a lot of faith in to PC which is interesting since my faith in that game is pretty much gone.

I meant graphic realism, yes.

Car list brah. I still have loads of faith, we shall see if it is well-founded in march.

More track list for me. PC's track list is amazing. I'm just worried about the open career structure and the wonky AI.

That too. We will have to see.

Both are sims.....

Sincerely, been playing pCars for 2-1/2 years and AC for 1 year.

I like Assetto Corsa. The physics are more forgiving than I thought they would be. I'm using a 360 controller, which is far from ideal. I can accurately drift the Lotus 49 around every corner. Given my dumb-thumbs and overall lack of coordination, I shouldn't be able to do that in a sim. I've come to enjoy it, for what it is.

Project Cars isn't even out yet?

I'm still hoping for awesomeness in PCars. I'm worried though. I don't know what game keeps pushing its release date out 3-6 months at a time without ever having a confirmed date.

I've had AC for a while, and enjoy it a fair bit. It's a nice step up from GT/Forza in terms of physics, but I gather it isn't as hardcore as say, iRacing. It's at least as good as Race 07 was, at any rate.

If you got in on the crowdsourcing you could play the alpha and beta versions of the game.

What is AC's career mode like compared to PCARS? I haven't been keeping up with my Senior releases as my old computer was making it hard to enjoy but from what I have tried, I like how the PCARS Career ladder is shaping up. I finally got a new i7-3930K and a GTX760 so I can dust off my G27 and get back out in my Formula Rookie.

I for one am looking forward to your review. I wish more people were less polarized as to the whole AC vs PCARS as both add to the genre. There are features available in one that are not in the other and while there is some overlap, there is enough to differentiate the two.

I have been firmly in "I hope they are both awesome" camp, although I have a soft spot for pCARS's development team and financing model. I just can't resist the chance to drive more realistic sims of the Zonda R. I'll probably do a few laps on common tracks like spa and silverstone, and probably the nurburgring, we shall see how different it is from Shift 2 with the career mod.

My own personal motivation for hopping onboard with pCARS was their Formula Rookie. My cousin used to have a Swift DB-1 but I was too young to help as pit crew but that got me hooked on Formula Ford. Its a great class that never gets enough attention in the games. I still need to find the time to figure out how to move over the FIA GT1 through GT3 cars from Shift 2 to pCARS. I am looking forward to release as SMS should be a bit more mod friendly then.

GT3 was my favourite class, good power with well sorted chassis. If you ever find a way I will beta test for you haha

You aren't familiar with how pCars is being developed, are you.

To be honest, I haven't played Career in either enough to really say anything useful. My problem with AC at the moment is something with the FFB changed from May when I last played to November when I finally set my rig back up, and no matter what tweaks I've tried it feels pretty terrible. Not saying the game is bad, I just haven't had the time or effort to figure out what's wrong with my FFB.
