Really, just a turbo swap would do the trick... The engine on that thing can witstand over twice its power... And 130hp on a 700kg car is WAY enough lol

This one is 106hp

They are fairly cheap here... You can find some for around 5000$.... Won't be perfect but it's cheap...

An almost perfect one will go around 10K$

I'm in Seattle, which is closely approaching Manhattan prices. So that's not even helpful. Goddamn.

I live in a normal apartment with 2 bedrooms that costs me around 800$ around Nagoya. I might move out to somewhere else soon though.

Even if I move in Yokohama, rent won't change and it's like 20 minutes by train from Shibuya in the heart of Tokyo.

Rents in Japan are actually cheaper than in most US cities. Unless you live in the middle of Tokyo it's very affordable. And still, living in the middle of Tokyo is a lot more affordable than living in the middle of New York for example.

Rents being expensive in Japan is more of a myth than anything. The only thing that is really expensive in Japan are transportations... Freeways costs around 26cts per km to use and taking the Shinkansen from Nagoya to Tokyo will set you back close to 100$ one way...

WHOAH I didn't realize it was a per mile charge. do you have road tax you have to pay on your car annually?

The 26cts per km is an average... if you use the highway for very short distances it can be A LOT more than that. I already mistook at took the highway eventhough I didn't want to and ended up paying 2$ for like 2km...

But yes, going from Nagoya to Tokyo by car would cost you something like 7500yen (70$) if you take the freeway.

As far as road tax goes... sort of. You have to pay every two years and it costs on average around 600$. This includes your very basic minimal insurance coverage though.

Wow I never knew - hiring cars while visiting removes all the issues of owning in the country.

That is pretty expensive - In the UK we pay roughly $8.50 (us) a gallon, $180ish yearly road tax and personal insurance. all swings and roundabouts isn't it.

Yeah, owning a car is expensive in Japan... Not to mention the parking space which costs roughly a minimum of 100$ per month anywhere you live, up to 300$ or more if you live in Tokyo...

But to get back on the original subject, that is really the only expensive cost in Japan... Transportation.

Taxes are low, healthcare system is good (a bit expensive to my taste as I'm french : 120$ per month... but then again, I'm french so lol), rents are normaly priced and food is pretty damn cheap and REALLY good...

So really, Japan is a rather cheap country unless you plan on owning a fleet of cars :)
