Last Thursday I got my license, got gas and reset my trip meter. I got gas again today and forgot to reset it. Should I keep it running to mark how many miles Ive gone since I got that sacred piece of paper instead of reseting it every time I get gas to calculate gas mileage? I can still calculate gas mileage, I just have to write down where the trip meter is at every time I fill up.

Since I've driven over a thousand miles in 16 hours, I can believe it. 8/10 would do it again.

Oh yeah it was, I got to drive through a snow/ice storm through WV. When I stopped to get gas, the entire out side of my vehicle was encased in ice. I had to cut out my fuel door and cut the ice off of my headlights.

Every post of yours I have read since Thursday fills me with joy and nostalgia. I remember how excited I was to get my license almost 18 years ago. I didn't get a car until a few months after my birthday but it was a fox body mustang with the same speedometer. So this pic brings back even more happy memories. I know this in no way answered your question but, do you and have fun man.

I have not found or looked for an iOS app for that. Droid had aCar, which was awesome. Pissed they don't have iOS

Also, a big middle finger to you, so you can push that reset odometer. I don't have one. (Trip odometer)
I have all fingers

why yes, yes I can, if you go out a couple times a day, and go 5 or 10 miles each way, that easily adds up.

Sure you can keep the trip meter for how many miles YOU've put on it, but after a few thousand miles, you'll forget how many times it's flipped over. You'll still have to do the math from when you bought it. I often forget to reset my trip after filling up, but I use the main odometer to track MPG's, and only really use the trip meter for range guestimation. I've also used it to help figure out where I am when I occasionally went on an adventure on the outer reaches of the grid road system, where very few people live and lots of the roads are barely more than the grown-in cut line from when the road allowance was surveyed a hundred odd years ago. This involves a notebook, compass, and resetting the trip meter every time I turn.

I would keep a logbook in my glovebox. (I should do that anyway)

148 miles since Thursday? Nothing I say! I put 115 miles (and A LOT of dirt) on my mom's 2.5 last weekend while she was out of town. 110 of those 115 were done in under 16 hours

Yeah, that's more or less what I do, but I just write the odometer reading on the receipt, and tuck it under the mirror on the back of the sunvisor. Eventually it ends up in an Excel sheet that does all the math for me.
Engineers love Excel sheets.

I put 110 on every day I work. Sometimes more if I do some errands after.

Check out Gas Cubby. I've used it for years and I love it. Fuelly bought the app about a year ago and are planning to integrate Gas Cubby with their site, but haven't done anything yet.
