I know, but they don't have GT badges so to the typical Civic street racer they think it's a V6. Then suddenly bam, 427...
Oh who am I kidding, we all know I'd be in a Z/28!

No, the typical Civic street racer would think it's a Mustang.

Or you can de-badge a GT and mod the Coyote. I've heard a Ecostang drive by with the turbo whooshing and nobody will ever mistake it for a V8.

There was a guy in St Louis way back when that had a Fox body GT with a 427. It was back in the days that paying off a garage to pass your car for safety and emissions was pretty easy. It had so little space, they had to 'clearance' the strut towers and do the old Mopar trick of tying one side of the engine to the frame with a chain.
He also has the Cougar '7.0' tags from 1970.

The big blocks could rock on the motor mounts so hard, stuff would break. They would use and extra long bolt with a cleat on the exhaust manifold and drop a chain to bolt to the frame rail. It would allow the engine to rock some, but restrain it from hurting itself.

Holy. Crap.
That's amazing and really interesting. Makes sense now that you laid it out. Was this only a Mopar thing, or used on other makers' big blocks?
Thanks for explaining!

I'm sure lots of drive way engineers did this.
Besides, is it just the monster torque, or did Plymouth/ Dodge just make shitty motor mounts?
