1 or 2 bullets in the barrel?
also, obligatory ''self-defense'' commentary: this thing is useless. plain and simple.
But I love it.

I don't think its meant to be a self defense gun as much as a back up dangerous game gun.

A buddy of mine has one, but with the more traditional 6-8" barrel (shit, for all I know, it's 18" - long gun is long)
He only uses it at the range, and lets anyone shoot it who wants too. It's an attention getter, and it's (similar to truck/motorcycle/sports car) nice to know you have the biggest gun in the room.
All it takes him is one round and everyone stops shooting and leans back with a "WTF was that" look on their face as they look down to his lane.
The only double-tap you'll get with that thing is when someone taps you on the shoulder wanting to talk about it or shoot it. Horrible firearm for self defense.
Pretty neat, though.

But what's wrong with a ''regular ''12 inch? recoil is manageable, at least.
Still, I'd take a broken wrist over a face mauled by a tiger.

You just gotta hit the bad guy with it. Anywhere will do.
Then when the paramedics come to scoop him up they can fix your wrist.

I know that's a larger in diameter round than the .454 casull but is the overall round larger? A local gun range has one like the one you posted but in .454. They won't let anyone shoot it once just to see. You have to pay full rental and pay for a full box of rounds. If you don't shoot all the rounds you can give them back but they won't give a refund. I stopped going to that range because the one nice guy is no longer there. The rest are jerks. One guy made fun of my gun. They're the only range in more than an hour's drive. I noticed they had a name change recently so maybe new ownership/employees.

Ever seen someone get charged by big game? Fisherman, hunters, and campers carry large caliber sidearms for that reason. Check this video out from 1:10:

I get that, but you don't need a .500 to protect yourself, except maybe from an elephant.
a .45 or .357 is more than enough to stop anything in its track. And it comes with the added benefit of not breaking your wrist if you have to draw and fire quickly.

I do get mad respect for casually field stripping a handgun while the salesman is talking to my husband.

Insanity. A few years back I was at the range and a dude let me shoot his 2" Smith 44 Mag. Loaded up four, shot four, handed him back his gun and said "That wasn't much fun". Without porting, the muzzle lift was uncontrollable. Can't even imagine a .500 caliber snubby.

A .45 or .357 is borderline adequate for man-sized game but a far cry from what you'd want for something larger. For reference, a deer rifle (.30-06 or .308) has about 3000 lbs-ft of energy, an "intermediate" round like the scary AR-15 or AK fire has around 1300 lbs-ft, and a small caliber pistol like the .45 only has about 500 lbs-ft. Big game hunters routinely use specialty rifle calibers in the 5000+ lbs-ft range.
Even "crazy" pistol calibers are dramatically less powerful than what you'd use in a rifle you can shoulder. They're a big compromise that give you something to grab in an emergency. The .460 Rowland, .454 Casull, and .460 & .500 S&W range from around 1500-2500 lbs-ft, which will be uncomfortable to shoot but still don't even match deer-caliber rifles.

LeMat Revolver
9 Rounds of .42 Ball
and...
a 20 gauge Shotgun right in the center of the cylinder, one shell only.

My old man has a .44 S&W snub, and dear god that thing kicks like a motherfucker.
This is...like...and I'm all about excess, but...fuckin a, borderline pointless. If a bear was running at me in the woods, I'd have to stop and think which would hurt worse: getting mauled, or shooting this thing. Crazy. I'll stick to my semis.

My buddy's (step)dad had one. They sold it for about 50 bucks less than they paid for it, iirc. He said it was so damn heavy that the (very much noticeable) recoil went straight back, almost no muzzle flip/climb.
I want to own something chambered in dollar bills someday...

He called it a cheap throw away gun when I asked if he knew how to take it down for cleaning. He said it wasn't worth caring for and it was cute I cared. He laughed at me through this exchange until the old timer who was sometimes there glared at him and helped me.

Despite being a cheap gun I have never had an issue with it. Granted, I've only taken it to the range a few times but still.
I only went to that range one more time because I promised to take a friend. Haven't been in 4-5 years, mostly because of that one guy. Whenever anyone asks a question he acts like he's too smart/good to be bothered with people who ask questions. All the other employees were helpful and friendly. It got to where whenever I went in he was the only one working.
