Much like the question "if a tree falls and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a noise?", if a VW doesn't have an engine, how will it break?

Mind blown. Probably extreme battery degradation.

The E-Golf is brought by the tow truck into the shop. It's their first problematic unit. Everyone is waiting to see what the big issue could be, as the car is still under 2000 miles.
As the mechanic opens the bonnet of the E-Golf his face turns from curious to stunned, then shocked as he reaches inside the bay. The customer and manager of the shop are standing aside. The manager asks what's wrong.
The mechanic looks up, still shocked. Tries to mumble something, but nothing comes out. He closes his eyes, swallows, looks into the manager's eyes and says:
"It... hydrolocked. Just like the Diesel. It... Hydrolocked"
"How could it? It's electric! It doesn't have pistons to hydrolock. You're certainly just misjudging." Says the manager.
"I know it's electric. But how else do you explain this?" *He raises a bent piston rod out of the engine bay*

Haha, that's probably my favorite excuse for our techs asking us "how do I fix this". It's simple. Just put the smoke back in the wire!
