Reminds me of one of my favorite Dr. Who quotes. "You let one of them go but that's nothing new. Every now and then a little victim's spared because she smiled, 'cause he's got freckles. 'Cause they begged. And that's how you live with yourself. That's how you slaughter millions. Because once in awhile—on a whim, if the wind's in the right direction—you happen to be kind."

There was an almost exact scene of this in the animated films "Dark Knight Returns". I can't find the actual scene on youtube (and I don't want to scour 4 hours of film to find it), but here's the gist of their relationship by the end of the two films:

I'd link you stuff about the Joker, but if you haven't seen it I don't want to spoil it.

If Superman was an oppo he would be driving a brown, diesel station wagon, not a Chevy convertible.

I don't like the animation or the Robin in that film, but it is a great page-to-screen adaptation. A tearjerker.

Agreed, if anything it makes it a great story a lot more accessible to those who don't actually read comics.

I'm kind of excited about Captain America 3.... I was worried because the first movie was a rough start...but the second movie had an extremely interesting interpretation of the Brubraker storyline (although it could've been less-hellacarrier-centric) I wish they would've focused on his moral struggle, politics, and the manipulations of the red skull... and the Winter-Soldier's rehab. But I have a feeling we'll see more in the 3rd movie.

I think the Iron Man trilogy and the Bale-Batman trilogy are the finest pieces of comic film to date.

However, I wish another multi-audience comic-tv series would try to reach the level of Batman: TAS, and Beyond. The moral stories and scripting and animations of those...so rich. I've only experienced that again in Under the Red Hood and The Return of The Joker. I miss not only good comic-animation television, but good dramas as well.

What the hell is Brave and the Bold?

Arrow and the Flash are super repetitive and recycled, I'm sorry to say.

I think the problem is that Hollywood won't let DC write a movie (or DC doesn't want to) that's just for kids of all ages. They're shoehorned into writing things that have to be for adults, that have to be gritty and dark. Part of what made TAS so good is despite it being dark at times, it was still comic-inspired and relatively lighthearted. Bad guys were bad, good guys were good, except when good guys did bad things but we know that. Instead of diving into moral ambiguity of adaptation they were free to pursue the richness of storytelling, because they weren't trying to adapt the comics into a new audience. They were adapting them to the same audience who would read them as comics anyway.

I think DC is scared to put out a movie that doesn't appeal to people who have no experience with comics.

The Avengers sort of changed that, as it was a very lighthearted, very comic-book type of story that didn't get hung up on adapting things for adults. We'll see where this goes, but I think Age of Ultron is going to possibly ruin this by trying to subvert itself and introduce strong adult themes.

Brave and the Bold is a complete meta joke, though, and I think it's pretty funny. I don't think it was ever intended to be serious. I think it's actually a sort of "What if" scenario suggesting the Animated Series never came out, and everyone still associated batman with "Nananananana Batman!", what would that show look like? It would look like the Brave and the Bold. It's the type of show guys fresh out of college sit down and binge watch on netflix with a bowl of Cheetos and some beer, probably making a drinking game about.

The premise of that series was insanely dumb.

James Spader is honestly bringing his creepiness over from The Blacklist (which is an incredibly underrated show! So, so good.) So yes, I hope they don't ruin it by the aforementioned change.

A fighting game made by the creators of Mortal Kombat is not insanely dumb.

I never heard of Blacklist, but I was a huge Boston Legal fan back in the day and loved James Spader because of it. Guess I know what I'll be watching this week.

Not the game, the premise of the story behind the game (and the comic). Take Lois, make her preggo with supes baby, then have him kill both of them via Jedi mind trick provided by the joker? That's dumb. Even by comic-book-for-a-videogame standards, that's dumb.

Uhm, it was Scarecrow's fear gas laced with Kryptonite not "via Jedi mind trick provided by the joker."

Think angry Boston Legal -Shatner + Alias = Blacklist.

It's on Netflix. 2 seasons. 3 just went out for recess until Feb. Prepare for addiction.

Scarecrow's fear gas laced with Kryptonite

This has to be the dumbest premise for a story put to written word. Bloody hell. I never though anything could beat this in that department, but I was wrong.
