With VWs, I think it's the worst of both worlds. It's not as luxurious as other German brands, and it's not easy to work on like other economy brands.

I've heard getting to the rear spark plugs is impossible. But I'd bet after removing the air box, all of the accessories are easy as hell to replace.

No :( I couldn't get the o2 sensors off the DPF or the Cat :'( also didn't feel like unbolting the subframe and couldn't unbolt the passenger side axle

It actually is pretty luxurious but it is impossible to work on with a lift... (all I had to work with was jackstands in a single car garage)

That sucks. I feel your pain. I want to go catless, but rust has over taken the bolts and the stupid crossover nut, or whatever it's called. It sounds so good with no cat. So much un-refinement.

When I get to it I might either see how much of a pain in the ass it would be to just pull or drop the whole k frame and do the timing belt at the same time...

I just recently put a downpipe on my car, and my God, how horrible. Trying to fish the O2 sensors was the biggest pain in my ass.

Could've warned you. If you still want to tackle it, I suggest soaking all of the fasteners in penetrating oil (not WD-40, that crap is useless as a penetrating oil) at least once daily for the next week. Then when you get around to trying again, do it when the exhaust is warm, not quite hot enough to hurt.

Downpipes usually add about 7 HP though.

I didn't modify anything! I just put it all back together cause I only got it half disassembled before I gave up... also the DPF delete would add around 40whp and 70wtq with the Malone Stage 2 tune...
