Kinja'd!!!

This morning, my dad in a bit of a rush, created this long dent in the side of our beloved R53 MINI, on the left quarter panel. Surprisingly, I'm not pissed in the slightest and see this as an opportunity to learn about bodywork in general. So fellow Opponauts, what do you think is the best solution to fix this dent?

Ewww. Hate to break it to you, but even if looks minor that one could be a real PITA to repair. The only way you MIGHT be able to fix that is taking the panel off (if that's even possible) and hammer it out. Good luck.

Is the metal creased, or is the metal still smooth through the dent? Hard to tell, and that will affect what you're able to do. We have a Cooper and a Clubman at my house, so I can see exactly where that dent would be, and getting to the inside of the body panel will be really difficult.

A toilet plunger, and some scratch remover.

Pay someone that knows what they are doing. Every time I've tried to do body work it's turned out bad. Build an entire car from the ground up, no problem, fix rust or a dent, nightmare....

It looks like you need to find a Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) shop. They might be able to spoon it out for you. If not perfect, at least 80% to 90%...

That looks really shallow... try to pop it out with a suction cup.

Don't think it's possible to actually take the panel off at all. Maybe it's accessible through the wheelarch though.

It's a really long scrape, about 5-6 inches.
