My friend is on the fence about buying a 1967 Mercury Cougar for $2,500. Can you post Mercury Cougar goodness to convince him that this is the way to go?

The car runs and drives but is missing trim that was removed for a stalled restoration. But the interior is minty fresh. It has a 289 and an auto trans but he would swap in a 5 speed if it were his.

reply tomorrow and I'll post pics of my 68 Mercury Montego, it has a 302. All parts match from 289, 302 and 351 tho. Easy swaps crazy power. It has a C4 auto trans I'm sure. GREAT auto. You can change it over to a manual, but you can also setup a great manually shifted auto trans. C4 is rock solid.

Depends on the rest of the car! Specifically, the tub itself. If it needs rockers, quarters, etc etc the car can be a money pit.

I know, I've owned a few.

A few of the unique things like the headlight apparatus or the tail lights or dash components can be hard/expensive to track down, but driveline-wise, it's as simple as a car can get! I'm for it.
