Because I think they look great in low light with just the sidelights on. Quite possibly the shittest justification ever.

It looks more like a proper Land Rover with the bull bars

I try to keep my Land Rovers as functional as possible, trying avoiding the bolt-on accessory trap that others fall into. I was really unsure about these!

If you're worried it's not "practical" you can always drive into the woods and push over a tree to justify keeping it ;)

My job involves a lot of trees so maybe I could just 'finish one off' with the bars. My head agrees with your plan.

Don't push anything to hard. I've seen that style destroyed by someone trying to push over little trees. It's technically a brush guard and doesn't have the sturdiest of mounting points, compared to a proper bull bar that bolts to the frame.
Looks good though!

Well hell, now you practically need to do it

It's just a good justification for if I ever have to, although I never would. I like a chainsaw far more than wrenching my front bumper off (and probably the front section of the chassis too). At least I can tell other people that it's functional, and that I'm not just another knobhead who's tarted up his Land Rover.

Having pushed over a tree with my Land Rover's bull bar, can confirm. Fun as hell.

Where's your steering guard you loon?! Love the Landy, first time i've seen it. What's it lifted on?

Steering guard was cheap steal and it started to rust badly so pulled it off. I have maintenance/upgrade window in January where I'll be sorting everything out.
I have 2inch RTE (HD springs) suspension lift and it's sitting on 265/75/16 Goodyear MT/R's with kevlar sidewalls.

Nice setup, looks good on the Disco too. I'm doing the same this Jan/Feb. Cold fingers, scraped knuckles and oil stains. I wouldn't have it any other way :)

I'll have scraped knuckles and oil stains, but I have a heated garage now so no cold fingers for me :).

Oh i'm so jealous right now. My workshop is an open-fronted barn. I actually use a gas torch to warm my hands sometimes!

Lol, that's one way to do it. Might want to look into finding scrap wood to close off the front and get yourself a space heater.
The main reason I bought my house (don't tell my wife that though, I LOVE the house ;) ) was the garage, 7.5 meters wide 10 meters long, 4 meter ceiling and a 2.7 meter high door.

That sounds like effort. It's taken me a year to put lights and power in so don't hold your breath. Have you got space for a mezzanine in your garage? I will live there and we can play Land Rovers together.

Were you able to get the grille guard lights to work?

And on the 8th day the Lord gave us Lucas. And there was light. Occasionally.

Let's not kid ourselves here. There is light. Rarely.
I'm convinced in your lead picture you actually had the headlight switch in the off position.

Haha that's sidelights only. Engine running I have half-output dipped beams with sidelights. When the engine's off it's just the two small outer lights.
