I realized I haven't posted a lot about my namestake car in a while. The car in question is my mom's DD, and the car I learned how to drive in, the 2012 VW Jetta 2.5 SE w/convenience pkg. This car has a special place in my heart till this day. Sure, it has trailing arm rear suspension, and rear drum (!!!) brakes, but it's the first car I drove that allowed me to experience acceleration and speed. And now, since it has done 20,000 miles in just over 3 years, i thought that giving it a good wash and making some new photos would be a good way to say thank you to a car I really enjoy. To be honest, I still regret not buying it off my mom instead of getting the GLI...
Don't get me wrong, the GLI's a great car, and I really like it, but I just don't love it. I love the 2.5, and how it drives. Sure, it has less power, but it uses it's power in such a way that it feels sharper than the GLI. It's also communicative enough to make you feel in control, but just loose enough to be fun. And the engine... Oh god the engine! you can keep your V8's, because this 5-cylinder makes a sweeter, throatier sound. I love revving it out at every opportunity I get!
so yeah, call me crazy for loving an outdated, average, mundane car. I'll love it either way.
And now the photos, that I took with a new lens I got for my camera! it gives it a slight purple hue.
Bonus pic: The 2.5 with GTI at home. The GLI is in the garage, but i'll make a photo of all 3 eventually...

Congratulations, Petar! It sure looks nice and sparkly. It'd be a shame if a flock of birds passed over your house...

It's my mom's car, and she doesn't drive a lot...
That 20K includes a 3,000 mile roadtrip to California and back...
Also, I had the car last weekend, and drove it instead of the GLI. in 2 days I did 110 miles in it

She REALLY doesn't drive a lot. I think average is like 15k a year. The two Volks look great next to each other though.

The 2.5 is such an awesome engine. I drove quite a few cars with it at my brief gig at that VW dealership. Out of all the cars I saw there, only one GLI was seen, in a sea of GTIs and a variety of different engined Wagons/Rabbits/Golfs.
I just hope I get my job back in the new year. I lost it due to a trip my mother is forcing me to take.

I think the red goes with them quite nicely. Matches the GTI's color scheme.

just a bit... ;)
I do love all three VW's that we own...
Each has it's quirks and it's downfalls, but in the end, they're all good cars! Now, I just need to get my mom to buy an AWE catback for the 2.5, and I need a tune for the GLI...

Christmas gift??? (My parents would never do that though)
My dad has a '13 TDI, and that car is surprisingly fun to drive. It's not a screamer, but the DSG + the low end torque on the diesel has led to many a surprised driver when I blow by them.

nope, not happening. I'm waiting till Feb. for the tune.
oh and TDI's are great too, but I like the 2.5 the most...
0-60 in 6 seconds if I keep in 2nd, and really rev it out

All I know about the trip is, it's gonna be hot as hell (hotter than usual, so thermal shock is to be expected), and my dollars are worth a lot.

Wow, not bad. Only other VW I've really driven has been a Golf R, but there were 600 lbs of passengers inside so I think your 2.5 may have been faster.
