Far too often on this site we overuse this meme. Making all of these false claims that if a certain car gets made we will automatically drop cash and right into a car payment.

The car of my dreams is simple. Unfortunately it doesn't exist. What I want is essentially a Mustang sedan. All of the same engine and transmission choices but with comfortable seating for 4 or 5 people. I would get a 5.0 with a manual transmission in a heartbeat.

I ask you this. What's your dream vehicle that if made you would honestly run to a dealership and tell them to "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!"?

It's close but not what I want. The SS is more-so in line with what I want but I would love to see what Ford could do with it. Plus the SS starts at almost $45k. Waaaay out of my budget by at least $10k.

This is sort of related to one of my pet peeves - I am immune from my own criticism because I really can't have a car in the city (expense, frequency of use) but I wonder if I'd put up or shut up given the opportunity. What I mean is that many enthusiasts bemoan the lack of a certain vehicle - let's say a Taurus SHO, a Chevy SS, an SRT Viper, then don't buy it when the manufacturer steps up and builds it. I believe the GTI Mark 1 was Germany-only way back when. Enthusiasts demanded it and, crucially, bought the car when VW stepped up and made it available.

Yes I've seen people complain that the same people clamoring for a certain product the most are the same one's that don't purchase the vehicle when it's made. That's why I decided to ask to finally see what people would honestly spend their money on. To be frank if I had the scratch I would have a Viper. I will have one before I die, unfortunately not sure if I'll ever purchase one new. Maybe a CPO.

For a DD:

Kinja'd!!!

with the Sky-D engine, auto or manual, I don't really care. I'd be willing to pay the same as they are currently going for one, hell I'd even trade in my Focus ST to do it (mainly because I also have a Miata toy in the garage for a fun car, if it was the only car I could have I'd keep the ST).

for a fun car: Well, I already bought a Miata last year, but if I had the scratch, I would absolutely buy a Caterham or one of it's clones. After having driven one last year, I came to the conclusion that I honestly need to buy one eventually. So, one of these days (after the Miata dies or I just get bored with it) there will be a 7 clone in my garage, it's that simple.

I think all of that tech and AWD will add weight too it. But I'm thinking no more than 2400lbs. How much does a stock Mirage weigh anyway? Also something like that would have to be closer to the $30k range because of those STI beating specs.

Do they CPO Vipers?

Yeah - my wants would probably revolve around Subaru doing the SVX right this time - 6 speed manual, lighter and smaller, maybe a targa roof, better weight distribution (mid-engine?). Would I buy it if I needed a car? Very nearly bought the last one in '97 - dealer too greedy so I went SHO.

If they made the IDX and it started around the $20k range like they were speaking about I'd be in line for it. Honestly that can drop the Juke motor and there and it would be loads of fun especially if it's such a lightweight. Nissan is talking about cutting weight off the current Z car and adding smaller engine options. It wouldn't be the same as this though. I still remember seeing the IDX on the front cover of car magazines and having to excuse myself because of the mess I made in my pants.

Don't forget AWD if you're going for the cold weather package you might as well tag that on. Plus it adds to is SAFETY points so now it'd even surpass the minivan choices.

I'm loving this sensible choice. I've always loved a Mazda 6 wagon. There's this upscale feel to them. I'd love if they made a Mazdaspeed6 again. I was too young to purchase one when they first came out and now the one's for sale have either high-mileage or you can almost guarantee they were driven hard. That would be a car I'd want from the beginning and take full advantage of all warranties.

Since we're talking vehicles that aren't in production...

If I actually had the money, I'd plunk it down on the Colorado ZR2. I've wanted a smaller pickup for awhile, especially something with better mpg. The off-road tweaks definitely appeal to me since I drive an early 2000s Z71 Silverado. I would just prefer it with the V6 over the diesel.

2nd gen SHO or 3rd gen. I've always had a thing for the older SHOs but there reliability is what made me choose otherwise each time an opportunity presented itself. I'd imagine they get a low mileage Viper trade in that recent they'd CPO it. Well I certainly hope so because they'll have my money eventually. I'll never understand why the SVX didn't offer a manual transmission. They missed out on a lot of $$$ with that decision. Possibly got the person fired for omitting it as well.

With that kind of power I'd certainly recommend it. Besides that just comes with the territory lifting the powertrain and drivetrain from an EVO X. So maybe my estimate was a little high. It may only add 200-300 lbs. Regardless 10/10 would hoon.

I had a 1st gen hatchback w the 3.0L V6, and it was a great car, stood up to 4 years of monthly autocross events without complaint, could hold ridiculous amounts of cargo, and was fun to drive. Test drove the 3rd gen when it came out and loved the way it rode, and the interior was very comfy. My 2 complaints were: 1) not enough cargo room for my taste (once you go hatch and all that), and 2) it needed a bit more power (nothing crazy, but the added tq and slight bump in hp of the Sky d would have it right about where I want it, plus diesel MPGs are a nice bonus). But yeah, if they brought the long roof gen 3 to the states with a sky D under the hood, I would be trading in my ST for one in either touring or grad touring trim (depending on what kind of deal I could get on a GT).

'97 SHO - I've heard of people having problems with the heads (I believe) on the V8 at around 60-70K, but mine went just shy of 100K w/ no issues at all. No one got fired on the SVX - my guess is the car was such a low volume that it didn't make sense to develop a 2nd transmission, assuming that Subaru didn't have a gearbox at the time that could handle the torque.

You may have a point with that. Would be nice if they revisited this though. And I've read about that problem with the V8 myself. According to the forums you had to weld some spot on the head and you no longer had anything to worry about. I was never a fan of that body style. Too much roundness inside and outside the vehicle. It does look nice in green though I have to admit that.

I'm not typically a German car fan but this right here is a combo made in heaven. Is there room for two in this dream of yours?

I honestly agree. You get the sedan profile, but it's way more useful. The huge opening makes it easier to get luggage and other large items in and out of the trunk, and the ability to fold the rear seats flat and remove the shelf easily gives you the ability to carry and equivalent or greater amount of cargo than most crossovers. It was great, and I absolutely loved the design.

Haha, the Toyota Matrix! Badge engineering to the extreme. Yeah, it makes me sad to think about it. I think theyll be back, they tried unloading Hummer and Saab, but Pontiac was off the table. Maybe not soon, but eventually.

I just LOVED that body style. And I drove enough base Taurii on business trips to know how special the SHO was ... with the right set of tires and a winding road, it was a lot of fun despite being slushbox only.

A big RWD sedan with a large trunk, 6 passenger seating, a V8, and minimal other features. I'm talking about a heater, AM/FM radio, and that's pretty much it. Column shift transmission, wind up windows, manual locks, and a sticker price well south of $25,000.

6M, brown, and a diesel - this car could be everything to everyone.

This is why I bought a used E90 M3.

If they had sold an E91 M3, I'd buy that.

Honda S1000. Please God, let them offer it in the US; make it look just like this.

Lol, hell no, I'd much rather it in that beautiful red in the picture.
