Merkur is a ridiculous name for a car. Call it what it is, call it Ford Sierra. Same goes for Holdens. Am I forgetting any other cars whose names America bastardized? If I ever get a Merkur first mod will be to replace all the badges.

America went and did this for Sweden so they didn't have to.
Also, I'm pretty sure 99% of these were sold back when GM was offering employee pricing for everybody and car nerds discovered they could get a WRX for pennies.

That one will be hard to convert back to Subaru. Requires body panel replacement.

My mother had one very briefly as a company car. It was a factory of sadness.

Funny thing is in Australia there exists the option from Holden to have Chevy badges fitted in place of the Holden ones on the commodore! And some people pay the $1,500 to do so!! WTF?

Why would anyone want to pay $1500 to downgrade their car?

I have no idea, the reason is that "It's got a Chevy engine so it's a Chevy" or something like that.

The Merkur Scorpio and XR were A Bob Lutz production. They shouldn't have existed in the U.S.
Ford would have been locked out of Sierra anyway here. GMC kinda held on to that one tightly over the years.

"if I ever get a Merkur"
Calm down BigNslow, let's not do any crazy talk. :P
I know that the Lexus IS is called the Altezza over there. I would rather have the Altezza name instead of 2 letter naming conventions.

In a lot of countries, the only chevy-badged vehicles are Camaros and Corvettes, so I imagine there might be some benefit to offering it to give off an American Exceptionalism vibe.
