Take a look at my desktop. Clean? Kind of. Informative? Uniform? Definitely. I usually take the time to have that decent desktop, not filled with clutter/an eyesore, so it kind of helps me in a way that I have something pleasing for the eyes. I also make sure I don't install old/sketchy programs that could clutter space (despite what Rainmeter tells me, yes, 4 means I have 4 GB left in C: on my SSD partition. 120GB Total for SSD, 1TB for HDD.)
Now take a look at this disaster. ( WARNING: THE FOLLOWING IMAGE MAY OR MAY NOT BE SKETCHY BUT I WILL ADVISE YOU IF YOU VALUE YOUR EYESIGHT/SANITY. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. )
No, seriously. It's bad.
Alright, don't say I warned you.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
I have no idea where I should start with this disaster, but
Shadman background
Resolution isn't even right
Questionable programs
IS THAT FUCKING MSN MESSENGER
Like I said, I don't know where to start with this digital disaster. I mean, why would you do that? (Note: the person who had this desktop thought my res was too high. I told him "at least my background wasn't squished to all hell."). He probably thought that I wasn't even using my desktop to its full potential (uh, what? Who keeps 6 million icons and shortcuts on their desktop?!)
But I digress - different strokes for different folks.... And those with 200 gigabytes of malware. But this is probably one of the textbook examples of the worst thing you can have on your desktop/computer - what's your idea?

One time I made a folder called GOAT PORN and put it on a co-workers' desktop. Took a screen shot of it, deleted the folder, then set that screen shot as the background.
OH TEH LULZ

Worst thing would be having anything vaguely pornographic (not in the car porn kind of way, either [but yes, that kind of car porn]) within three or four clicks of your desktop background.

I try to keep the clutter down, never more than two columns but I plan on getting it back down to one once I upload all the mountain trip shenanigans to youtube.

Back in college, there was a guy that was friends with my room mate, he was all the time over in our room talking about various kinds of porn, you name it, he was in to it. He would never shut up about it. It got pretty old, pretty quick. One day, this guy leaves his system on without any password protection....Muahahahaha!
My room mate goes online with his system, finds the most disturbing anal penetration pic. (I'm glad this was pre goatse) and puts it as his background. In addition, we set a sound of moaning on every single key on his keyboard. No matter which key you hit, it moaned. Bak in the mid-90's not too much could slow a system down more than shitloads of key activated sound bytes. So while he could clean it off before his parents came up to visit, it took him the better part of a day just to get it to speed up enough to reverse all of the shit we did to his system.

We used to screenshot the desktop, set it as the background, and then move all the shortcuts to another folder. Whole minutes of fun would ensue. If I was really evil I'd have let all the shortcuts there and scripted removing a random one every few minutes, then replacing it next time and taking a different one. It would be one hell of an intermittent problem to try and diagnose.
Oh, and then there was the place the boss thought it was funny to do stuff to your computer if you left it unlocked when away from your desk. Cue the desktop screenshot set as the screensaver.

I have no idea how people can use images for wallpaper. My background is about like this:
Then again, it's also covered in shortcuts. I know where they all are, even if no-one else could find anything.

Here's mine at work, I really need to go through and get rid of about half of those files. They'v ebeen backed up elsewhere and I only intended to have them there temporarily when they were being used regularly.

I don't do ANY icons on the desktop, rarely in a pinch do I save anything to the desktop. I run everything from CLI, through VMWAre, or Putty.

My dad likes using 4:3 pictures on a 16:9 laptop. He has them set to Fit, not Fill or Stretch, so it's a 4:3 picture with black letterbox bars on the sides.

I have no idea.
At least his desktop only has like 6 icons in it, and they all sit in the letterbox bar to the left.
But every time I use it I'm greeted with something like this:

Well, I didn't do anything bad to my workstation when I was doing my work experience a few years ago. During my lunch break, I created a Google Chrome theme and applied it onto my workstation's PC. Then, I decided that the big screen computer for meetings, the one that everyone gathered around needed a sprucing up too. So I applied the theme to its Google Chrome too. It was a nice red theme, with yellow accents for the bookmarks and buttons.
And every time you opened a new tab, you saw a line of gorgeous Ferrari Daytonas.

WTF was that. Midna with a huge ass.
Anyway, in High School it was common for people to screw with your laptop. I went to the restroom and left my laptop in my school bag in the classroom. Returning from the restroom, a female friend asked me if she could borrow my laptop. I said yes and handed it to her. The next thing I hear is a scream. She returns and gives me the laptop back, without using it. What was in the desktop? Goatse.
Those fuckers changed my wallpaper.
