Did you know...
AWD>Everything, therefore AWD is faster than everything.
Always.

Meh, some people don't understand the drawbacks. I keep screaming at people that a 300-500lb AWD system on the Fiesta ST would do noting but make it slower and cost as much or more than the Focus ST. ut no, apparently some people would only buy the FIesta ST if it was more expensive and worse.........whatever.

I've never cared for the handling of AWD cars I've driven. Granted, they have mostly been Subarus or similar crossovers.

Well there is a point to the idea of too much front drive power, or rather torque. This isn't news.

Agreed. Know what's great about AWD? Four wheel low—oh wait...

I agree. There are also other candidates in the Uber-Hatch/Compact segment that offer similar performance and AWD. Generally they will have a Subaru badge on the front.
These people though, just cannot live with the idea that Ford thinks that FWD is good enough. I have suggested that if they really desire an AWD performance Ford that badly they are welcome to buy a Subaru and replace the badges with Ford ones.

Look at is this way
The far left of the car enthusiast curb is the J.K. Trotters, hippies and general car hatters. To the far right are the Chris Harris/Clarkson/etc. The jalopnik crowd is right in the fat bit, and that's the part that watches Top Gear but couldn't tell you the difference between a strut and a solenoid....for the most part...and are happy to argue and bickers points that they may or may not know anything about...but think they do. We, as opponauts, reside on the right of the curve and know better. We know that "different strokes for different folks" isn't dirty or a Ford bumper sticker but that every shitbox has its merit, the answer is....when we are serious...not always miata and that its totally cool if you like something that isn't generally well liked...if thats what makes your enthusiast light come on. Its a good place to live.

I think the cut-off for FWD power is somewhere around 250-300 hp. Anything more than that and it just becomes too much, and AWD is a better option.
This supports my Ideal Road Car Power Theory, which states that the ideal amount of power for a road car is however much the current GTI has. Anything less will leave you wanting more, and anything more will be too much to effectively use during normal road driving, and is therefore wasted.

I know. It just grows tiresome when I present rational, well thought out points, only to have them totally ignored because reasons and BS.
