My vote is an R32 GTR. You can get a very nice one for $25-30k imported and 25 year legal. It's RHD and special, so people will still bug him at gas stations and give him attention. Plus, it's AWD, so it's a good winter car! Plus practicality, cuz 4/5 seats. Also, decently cheap to repair compared to his current car. And twin turbos.
Or just get this Delta Integrale.
So what's your vote? Let's keep it under $70k. Or $80k. Or $90k for a good one.

I think it's a great idea.
Lots of posts about importing, and he's got his weekend ED, Kat, already in Japan to help checking out cars and all the other stuff on that end.
It should give him more the right kind of attention at gas stations too, car people, which he said in a different post he has no problem with. Also, since it looks pretty plain really so the average person wouldn't think much of it and it isn't an R34 so the less well versed F&F fanboys won't recognize it either!

My post to Doug. Breaking most of the rules, but it would be awesome, because 'murica and such:
2015 Corvette Z06.
If you're worried about depreciation/resale, hire Automatch Tom to get you a sweet lease, and just deduct dem lease payments!! - 1 Article
Do Factory Delivery in Bowling Green KY. - 1 Article
The high lease payments are somewhat negated by the fact that the car comes with a warranty. Plus you can write about the random TSBs that will of course be shared by 37,000 impalas and 632 Z06s. - Another article
At the end of one year, you can use one of those "lease takeover" marketplaces - another article!
Also MRC will (maybe? well hopefully) make those city streets a bit more bearable.

Your estimates on GTR prices are about $10k too high. I know because I imported a Skyline.
Anyone wants >$20k for a R32 they are ripping you off.
Dsscats
> Kanaric
12/09/2014 at 17:54 | 0 |
Thorough an importer for a clean GTR, that's what you're looking at. $20k on the project, R grade end.
Kanaric

12/09/2014 at 18:04 | 0 |
If that's what they are telling you talk to Derek at pacificcoastjdm.com and get one for $5000 less than that in good condition. I would say $17k at most, and that includes shipping fees. Unless you want to find a unicorn with 50,000km or somethign.
Sites like rightdrive.ca and jdm legends are ripoff artists and they are the ones quoting these ridiculous sums.
Some of these "dealerships" going around are trying to sell GTS-Ts for $14k, lmao.

Dsscats

I wouldn't trust RightDrive either. There've been a couple instances of them listing cars which weren't theirs. But look up International Vehicle Importers and Japanese Classics LLC. Both are high priced to a point because it's already here, plus they buy from auction mostly and guess demand rather than doing special orders.
Kanaric
> Dsscats
12/13/2014 at 11:45 | 0 |
The problem I have with them is that they buy from auction where you can get the car for thousands less if you use somebody like pacific coast. However I guess some people have $20k to blow. I think of JDM cars more as buying better cars than US market ones on a budget, I guess people who have a ton of money to spend don't think that way so don't try to find the cheapest options.
