So, we took my daughter to WVU Children's hospital to see a pediatric GI doctor. Possible signs of Crohn's Disease. I've had it myself since I was 5, and the signs are pretty similar. She's waiting to see the doctor now. Pretty much blows.

childrens hospitals suck to be at, everyone would rather be at the payground. i spent a couple weeks back in the day having a rod put in my back. I was there a bunch too for a close cousin who actually had Crohns. she gets along just fine now and that was 10 yrs + ago. Good luck.

On the flip side, it's a very treatable disease and she's fortunate you caught it when you did! The fact that you've lived with it all these years will put you in a better position to help her through it as well.

Keep your chin up, Jalop! We got your back!

They did some blood work, they want to check for different things, like wheat and gluten allergies, too much juice, or possible parasites such as giardia. We will see what happens. The doctor is trying to steer away from Crohn's. But, if she does have it, with me having it, I know a lot of what to expect. Either way, we ended up having a good day and went to lunch and did some shopping. It was fun overall.

I myself have both Crohn's disease and Celiac Sprue Disease. I have been 100% gluten free since 2002. I am actually the first confirmed case of extra-gasterointestinal ocular granuloma inflammation. I know how hard it can be. What drug regimen are you on? I'm on Pentasa, Imuran and Humira along side my Gluten Free Diet

Let's hope for the best. I've found that diagnosing illness is much like bird watching. Sure, it could be the ruby throated whatsit bird of Borneo, but it's more likely to be a mockingbird. You always have to rule out the most common things first. At worst, it's a condition you know about and can help her with.

Geez. Right now, I'm unmedicated and doing ok. During a flare up I would take pentasa, a short dose of prednisone and mercaptopurine. I also had a feeding tube for a while as well. I did get a couple of infusions of Remicade when I was little as well.

I am hoping for the best, indeed you are right. I've had bad doctors and excellent ones. This one seemed pretty good, and I went to the same hospital for years that my daughter went to yesterday, and I was always happy with them.

Oral Steroids give my psychiatric side effects, I cant take them. I also tried remicade for a good 6 months, The infusions were not fun. It ended up not working for me, Plus it was outrageously expensive. Luckily (mainly due to Imuran and Humira) Ive been in remission for 5 years. But every time I get sick with a cold or something and have GI symptoms, I worry my Crohns is back. Sucks being chronically ill. I actually wasnt officially Diagnosed with crohns until 2007 when My bottom lip swelled to 3 times its size. They did a biopsy and low and behold, granuloma. They always thought I either had Ulcerative Colitis or crohns, but couldnt confirm either until Granulomas popped up. I had a distended belly until I was 15. I looked very malnourished.
