haven't been on a nice road trip since june. but now with the cold weather, it needs to be dry, or i need to get quickly out of the northeast and its rust inducing salt.

There are bigger sins in this world than fog lights on a DB7.

Worst part about living in the rust belt is the damn winters so we can't drive our toys. Furthermore the vehicles we do drive get destroyed by salt. Nice XJS by the way. Are those rims stock?

thanks. the wheels are from a 2001 or so XJR. they're 18 x 8 all around.

stock wheels up through 1993 or so are 15 inchers, which are good looking BBS lattice wheels. but the 55-60 aspect ratio of the tires have lots of sidewall play, and it is nearly impossible to find tires with appropriate speed ratings.

i hunted forever to find a reasonable set of aftermarket 17 inch wheels, but with the annoying bolt pattern and offset requirements, sticking to jaguar OEM stuff was the best option. even still i need to run a spacer on the front wheels so they clear the hub grease cap.

hate to be full of myself, but i think they look great. have a bit of an old british design to them, not like some flashy aftermarket options. and at 18 inches, ready for modern cars. also, they improved the handling at highway speeds and around country roads incredibly. i am even happy to sacrifice the increased ~7 lbs of unsprung weight at each corner for that improvement.

All those points are more than enough reasons to get the wheels. I also think it's nice to know if you ever want to you can upgrade to bigger brakes.

true about the brakes.

except jaguar, in its infinite wisdom, when designing the ground breaking independent rear suspension in these cars (and e-types) decided to reduce unsprung weight (in a 2 ton car???) by fitting inboard rear brakes.

changing or refurbing the calipers requires lowering the rear subframe... you read my other reply to your big v12 coupe post about how complicated these things can be... case in point. its still a great looking car though and i'm happy to tear my hair out over it. :)

Oh yes I remember reading about that once. Kinda the xjs fatal flaw.

Please turn the front tire the other way when trying to take a pretty picture. Wet thread in general is less appealing than your average rim.
