Well, I had pretty good luck on my winter tire search. Purchased these as you see them. Had to drive 2.5 hours to get them but saved myself $280 doing so. Tread depth puts them closer to an all season but that's OK with me for the money spent.

The GTI will now be able to travel in snow. With the temps below 45° my Copper RS3-S tires were hard as rocks and not too good in really cold drizzle.

Those wheels make it look like a badass rally car.

while it will certainly be a bit better, the tread on those looks a little light, or is it just the ones in the foreground. I just noticed the siping on the outer tread blocks (where you get alot of snow/ice brake grip) are worn in places, but as you said, better than all seasons!

You are totally correct. The aren't ideal, depth is 7-8/32nds. But they're way better than these for winter!

The things I was really please about was that I got alloy wheels, TPMS and tires for a good price. I was going to get steelies and pay another $280. Next winter I can get new tires.

That's what I though. Those rims with TPMS alone would cost over $400.

What search terms did you use on craigslist? I have been looking for winter tires on there but haven't gotten many results. Definitely worth the cost savings there!

Well the car choice could be the limiting factor. I am looking for winter tires for my Miata. Don't plan on driving on much snow in NJ but Id like to not be stranded since it is my daily.

I think the cost of gas to get there and back would equal the price difference of buying new lol. 9 hours doesn't sound that far though...
