Some of you may have seen in my last post, that !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I haven't had anytime to help with the engine swap, so I just paid my dad to do it. I keep forgetting how amazingly quickly he works; He started Thursday and brought it home Friday night.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
It's got the 2.4 VVT-I from the Camry, which is a great little motor. It's peppy and quick and averages about 28 MPG from the slushbox 4-speed.
Today, I set about the task of cleaning it. I've only bought one car ever that someone bothered to clean before selling to me, and it's the one sitting behind the Scion. You can see the before pictures in the link above.
Overall, I'm really happy with this one. Everyone works just great, everything's clean, and it comes with all sorts of factory stuff still on it. I've got all the original floor mats, cargo nets, owner's manual and Scion iPod adapters, etc. It drives really smoothly and quietly, and it's not as bad of a handler as it's shape would lead on.
It's no Mazda3, but it's still a fun little car.
I'll spend the next week or so driving it around to make sure everything's ok, and then it'll be put up on the block for sale.

Exhaust valves in the front? When did Toyota start doing that again?

I like it, I have a thing for slightly unusual boxy cars.

Not sure really, but I know the 1st Gen xB has them in the back.

I think it's about 80k. The body just turned over 90k.

I dig the color. If I were in the market for one of these, I'd probably buy yours.

I believe only the ZZ family, NZ family, and ZR family have the exhaust manifold in the back, and the intake manifold in the front, as far as their transverse, inline 4 cylinder engines go.

I always liked that little quirk of theirs. Made for a much better looking bay

Especially compared to the 2AR-FE in the 2012 Camry.

I wanna complain, but wow look how easy that o2 sensor is to change out

So basically...it's got the exact same kind of engine it originally came with? The 2AZ-FE?
Surprised you didn't go with one from a Rav4, since it's got a bit more power (168hp vs 158hp), and more than likely, as it was a slightly more powerful version of the same engine, would have fit just the same.

Yeah.
I was supposed to buy another in Edmond today, but he sold it out from under me.

I bought it as a flip car with the engine blown up, so going back stock was the intention. It's easiest to sell stock
Do people mod xBs? I'm almost curious now. It's a nice car, but certainly not a tuner platform.

The first gen xBs had a bit more of a tuner scene, if I remember correctly. When I had my '06, aftermarket parts were readily available and cheap. Seemed like everything was $200. Springs, intakes, etc, all $200. Haha!

It was really cheap even considering that, but it happens. The majority of them fall through.
