its a car.

annnd thats about as far as I would go to describe it.. it has a 1300CC motor, FWD, a 5 speed, 4 doors, a bench in the back, and a trunk.

and its glorious in alls its 78HP splendor. (note the 3 bolt wheels)

also, its ENTIRELY mechanical. except the radio.

They still produced that 1960s design years after the iron curtain went down? I didn't know, to be honest.

Anyway, it would be a nice car to restomod. Do keep the 3 lug nut wheels though.

ohhh yea :P

you see that 'pick up' in front of it in the last photo? after the front fascia on gramps car, they went to that. they FINALLY stopped making that car in 2005 I think.

Wikipedia tells me 2004, but close enough. That's a production run of 35 years!

Despite living in Europe I never ever see these. And never have either, other than the very rare one when I was in Croatia and/or Hungary.

they were mainly sold in Romania.

seriously, head there, and it is literally impossible to drive down a street without seeing a dacia.
the 1310s arent as common as they once were (the logan, sandero, and duster took over the line) but they are still pretty freaking common.

Not sure it's worth it, old cars can be money pits. I sometimes want to buy old cars and restore them, but most old cars are mostly in horrible shape and parts for them are quite rare.

these arent....they were <$5k new (even adjusted for inflation) so everyone, their dog and their cat had one.

the only issue would be sending the part over to canada

Many people ship classic cars from different parts of the world to other parts of the world, but the formalities and paperwork can be a pain in the ass, I suggest you ask a shipping company about details.

Still, I can't imagine that parts for a car that looks that old, are very common or cheap.

I'm not too worried about parts. I GISed street in Romania

Kinja'd!!!

this was the second picture. I can count 6 of the dam things just in that picture.

help that they were made for 35 years, but still.

as for shipping: shipping isnt an issue. it just costs $. registration and what not would be the issue.

and seeing as i'm in canada and our rule is 15 years, not 25, I dont have any issues.

Hmm, are you into classic cars or you want that just because it belonged to your grandpa?

you know...now that I think about it...I dont know

I dont know how to say this. I like weird cars. but at the same time I like a bunch of the main stream cars as well (audis for example, I love them)

The 1310s were also dead freaking reliable, so that helps. i mean there are cars there that consistently have over 400K km on them. our old, green wagon 1310 had 600 last I checked.

Well, I kinda have a thing for 60's and 70's European sporty cars, and restoration costs(parts and skilled mechanics) on those can go up, real quick, especially since the market was still full of muscle cars, back then.
