In addition to this massive lack of paint and stuff, the entire upper surface of the bumper which I had perfectly straight is now wavy and there are spider cracks all over the paint. This really sucks since I spent so much time doing body work on the bumper to get it perfect for paint.

Interestingly you can see all they layers of paint this thing has had over the years. The yellow fiberglass, original primer and black paint, red 80s primer and black paint, grey primer (from the last job), my finishing putty, grey primer, and black paint on top.

Grandfather backed his X5 into it and didn't feel it so he kept pushing. I don't cry but it had me in tears.

At least it's a bumper.

Yes, it sucks, but at least it wasn't a quarter panel or something that's much more difficult to fix.

So now it's sitting in my garage and I'm trying to figure out what to do about it. He says he'll pay for it but I don't know if I trust bodyshops to repair it... It was so crushing to have the car out for the second time since it was finished and then have it destroyed. My parents are pissed at me and blame me for it because the car only has storage insurance on it right now and I drove it a mile to his house to install some new parts. I'm just glad he didn't hit any steel bodywork, just the bumper and taillights.

My thoughts exactly. I would have been so much more pissed if he hit the rear wheel arch instead of the bumper. I did all the bodywork on the car so I know how much of a pain in the ass it is to fix that stuff.

I don't see what the storage insurance has to do with the situation, it wouldn't go on yours anyway regardless of what policy you had.

Yea, I am speaking from experience. Had a family member hit my quarter panel once. Never got fixed.
