Like screw around and try to record the Safari's exhaust note under acceleration. I have two clips which sound semi-decent, and then a video of me driving through the "fun" part of the long way home.
Pardon the shitty footage, my brother was recording. I wasn't about to put any effort into editing it other than cropping footage, so it just jumps from one clip to another. I also made the mistake of using image stabilization on YouTube.
It doesn't actually sound terrible. You can't hear the exhaust rattling, which is good. It's actually a lot louder in person. Even inside the cabin it's loud.
That second clip is a half-assed 0-60 run I'm pretty sure, when I let off the gas is when I hit 60. It's something like 15 seconds, which is 2 seconds slower than I usually do it because rain.
The 4.3 really sounds like a V8 sometimes. It's letting its lineage show.
So yeah, this is what I did on my rainy Friday afternoon.

The 4.3 is definitely one of the best sounding stock V6's.

The engine note is probably the best thing about my Safari. I wish I was kidding.

Creve Coeur Park/Maryland Heights Expressway. Just down the road from the high school.

1. I would kill for a road even remotely like the one in your last clip to be anywhere near me.
2. This is yet another reminder that I haven't posted any sound clips of my car yet. Ugh.

It's a very fun road in the dry, especially in the Saturn. But at night there's deer on either side of it often so I try to not go down there unless it's daytime.
Get on it!

I just cruised out there by the lake for the first time last week! Beautiful area.

Mine at least is relatively fun to drive... or was when the front sway bar link wasn't bent at 90 degrees.

If I don't at least smile like I do when I drive the Vue down a twisty road in whatever car I test drive to replace the Safari, I ain't buying it. It has to at least match the Vue on the fun scale.

My only requirement for my next, is that it reaches 60 in under 15 seconds. And will do a break torqued burnout.

I'd like something that does it under 10. And a pull-style park brake, for reasons. And V6 or larger because I refuse to be the first one in the house to own a 4-cylinder.

Ya never been! Im not usually in that area unless im climbing at Upper Limits. One of my friends just moved into a condo out there and I went for a cruise after hanging with him one day.
Everything I do or need is in the Des Peres/Frontenac/Kirkwood area so that's were I spend 99% of my time!

True, everything I need is in Bridgeton, Creve Coeur, or Maryland Heights. And all my family lives in St. Charles or St. Ann. I don't think I've ever even been to the Frontenac or Kirkwood area.

Mine takes 16-18 depending on the temp. The lower the better. Also, with 5 grown men inside, it will not do 50 up an incline. Once again, also, it must get at least 15 mpg highway. On your next vehicle, you need to set the bar and establish dominance.
They also both sound glorious.

If I could buy a V10 Ram, I totally would. But I don't think my parents wanna pay to fuel that. But the POWER.

It's weird how St. Louis is like that. That road by the lake is one of my favorite roads in STL now. If you ever get the chance, go drive Wild Horse Creek Road out by St. Albans. Kinda far from where you are, but its gorgeous scenery and grade A roads.

The power/gas mileage ratio is much better on the Ram than the Safari.

It is a really nice road. Pretty smooth too except for that big ass bump at the stoplight on the side that lets out to Dorsett and the train tracks on the side that lets out to the expressway.
I will have to reserve that for when I get a car deserving of grade A roads and gorgeous scenery. Don't need my rattling exhaust and squeaking belt ruining it!

If it breaks into double digits MPG wise, it ties the Safari pretty much. And I get probably triple the power, if not more.

Well then you are in luck. Some people have gotten up to 17 highway in them.

You need to take the van down MO 94 towards defiance. That road is amazing even in my Hyundai it's fun, can't wait to take my Miata down it

I would kill for a road like the one in the last clip. Everything here points straight with the occasional bend! Not a bad thing for my car, but I would like a few turns every now and again.
I really need to get some exhaust videos for my car. Yours doesn't sound to bad.
