Truck/friend rant after the jump.

So last tuesday I went to work on my ranger at a friend's house, he got in my head about what was wrong with it. He is quick to judge and talks out of his ass often. I grew up with him, I should know better. Tonight, after recovering from being sick and having a clear head I hopped under my truck. The bell housing is bone dry, no leaking there. I have a feeling, the fluid on the trans body is old and that contributed to the smell. I also have a feeling my oil filter is loose. I know I have a leak, possibly from the shift plugs. Its a slow leak. But If it was the main seal I'd have engine oil in the bell housing, and if it was the input shaft seal I'd have trans fluid in there. So nothing big, everything is completely fixable with relative ease and cheapness. Lesson learned: dont listen to friends, they may know nothing.

Yeah, me and my friends have mostly grown apart or they've just became assholes recently. It's unfortunate but Oppo and my one other friend I've known since 7th grade are really the only people I can have a somewhat intelligent conversation with.

My best friend since high school, who doesn't know or care ANYTHING about cars, has owned his teal 96 ranger 3.0 slushbox for 11 years. It broke 260k recently, and other than ball joints and a slipping tranny that refuses to die, that thing has been solid as a rock.

Ya, My ball joints are iffy. I'll fix em later, aka in 2 years. Mine shifts, but there is a phantom leak, a small phantom transmission leak. I'm taking it to my guy on friday for a fluid flush, Im gonna ask him to not put thread sealent on it so I can check and maintain the levels myself. Im gonna do this for a month so I can figure out exactly how much Im leaking. Then I'll fix the leak, where ever it is. Im thinking its the freeze plugs.
