Normally I don't do personal stuff here but I feel like it now.
Why does high school, especially the junior year, have to be so damn stressful? Even after getting Highest Honors for the first time in 9 quarters of high school, I still feel like my performance isn't as good as it could be. Math is particularly stressful this year. Probably because I want to be an engineer, but I don't know. Every other class is like really good and then there's math just kinda there. These aren't even the most frustrating things
Now for the more Personal stuff.
Shyness really sucks, a lot. It's extremely frustrating when you like someone, like you know like, and you can't really start a conversation. Now that's extremely frustrating. I don't know why it's so hard to just start a conversation. Maybe it's because I overthink things in my head way too much when it comes to this. Like I'll be running conversations through my head and I'll either talk myself out of it or just don't end up making conversation.
Damn being 16 is hard. Must be all those emotions and hormones and stuff they talk about...

I know exactly how this is, unfortunately there is no easy solution.

Don't worry bud it'll get better. I was always shy and didn't get my first real girlfriend until last year (I'm 20 now) just talk to her and don't think about it, the more thinking you do the longer you'll put it off.

Being someone who was once a long time ago (17 years ago) a shy 16 year old who used to over think stuff. Just Stop worrying and just take a leap and do it even if you make a mess of it its better than not doing anything at all. I wish I could be 16 again LOL

Sucks to be you lol.
But anyway, I'm in a similar situation at the moment. Easiest way to overcome shyness is to simply do stuff, then shit will get moving on its own.

It definitely gets better. The jocks, hipsters and douches burn out way quicker - by the time they're in their mid 20s half of them would have:
- knocked up some girl and forced into marriage as a result,
- become a druggie who can't do his own laundry,
- way past his prime from playing high school football and not focusing on anything else / totally (not) having made it with his band,
- and/or be totally uninspired and sick of their lives, stuck in some job they don't have any actual interest in
Meanwhile you would've focused on your studies, got good grades, started a career where you make good money and are set for the future, and be one of the few remaining intelligent human being that sensible women would actually be interested in.

It does suck to be me! I only get to go to one of America's premier road racing venues.
Yeah, I need to just like stop being shy and stuff.

Do you live in a particularly disadvantaged or low socioeconomic status area? No?
Than things will get better! Maybe.

16 seems to be especially shitty for some reason, definitely was for me. Oh, except for people who are going to hit their peak at 17, but that just sucks for them because that trailer park they'll spend the rest of their lives in wont be a fun time.
Life's nothing without contrast, so just try to enjoy now as much as you can while knowing that in the end whatever shit you wade through now will just make the good times to come taste even better.

Just try to sit back and enjoy life.
If math and being shy are your biggest problems, you're probably doing all right.

Maybe because for those that don't peak in high school realize this is that year that we "need" to start becoming more responsible for everything, and all that damn stress too. Just fighting my way through this year and know there are better days ahead of me!

Serious questions, what is the absolute worst thing that could happen if you ask a girl out?
What is the best?

Exactly , best case scenario you will be happier. You get to be the cool guy that walks around school with a good looking girl on his arm you will feel better about yourself, as soon as you feel better about yourself, life will get better.
Worst case scenario she politely says no.
No where in that spectrum is death, dismemberment, or other serious injury a possibility. So what have you really got to lose?
This might sound crazy but I am totally serious about this.
If you ask a girl out and she says no that's the end of it there is nothing horrible that will happen. You say let's get a pizza (or whatever kids do now-a-days) she says no thanks I have to give my gerbil a bath. You say ok have a good weekend/day/whatever then walk away.
When you were born I was just about your age and I wasn't the football guy, I wasn't the in a band guy, I didn't have a cool car. Well I thought it was cool but most high school girls didn't understand why 12 year old fox-body mustang was cool. My point is there was absolutely nothing special about me except I never had an issue asking a girl out. I dated the hot girls in school because I asked them out. Not because I was anything special. I just had no problem walking up to a girl and asking her out. Ask some decent looking girls out first, not hot just okay, they will probably say yes because someone is interested in them and since you don't really like them you really aren't going to care what they say. Every date, every time you talk to a girl is practice for asking out a hotter girl. Every time you talk to a girl it will get easier. I keep saying girl but if you are gay do you man. Just be 100% sure any guys you ask out are also gay or you might end up in a fight.
As far as school, I was never to good at advanced mathematics myself. But, I would say ask some of your friends who are in the same classes with you, or ask the teacher for help. If the teacher gives a shit they will help you out. If the teacher won't help you out or, if your friends are dumb, see if your parents will spring for a tutor. Don't be shitty because you think you are going to F'up your chances to be an engineer because you aren't good at math. You are 16 I would say there is a 90% chance you will change your mind about what you want to do when you get older don't beat yourself up over it. Better yet, find a smart hot girl in class and after class one day be like "Ahhhhh, I can't understand this but, you seem to get it, could we meet up in the library later and you could help me out?" If she says no you don't lose anything because she won't even realize that you are trying to spend time with her she will just think you are asking for help with math.
Good luck.

As a Senior in high school who currently has a 50% in one of his classes with only 3 assignments left to bring that grade up with, I feel you.
The way I see it, grades are important, but race cars are importanter.

Three seconds rule: if you want to ask a girl out, do it in three seconds so you won't give yourself time to overthink.
You're young. Accept that you will have to fall from the figurative bicycle many times before being able to ride it and you'll make it.

A part of me really hopes theres some true story behind "I have to give my gerbil a bath," because I have never heard that one before, and if I wasnt preparing for the three rings, I'd try that one out myself.
