another group of insolent assholes that will be making the streets of my town more difficult and dangerous to navigate this winter. Them and the unlighted bicyclists. The main pic for this article is 2 blocks away from my place

If you're gonna live in old town/downtown/CBD/hipsterville, you've gotta suffer some hipsters.

Do you have a problem with the act of cross country skiing or the people doing it in public streets?

Oh no problem with X country at all, it is just a nuisance to everyone that can kill them, which I don't want to do. Trying to drive around in the snow with a bunch of other cars is tough, and they just go right down the middle of the road like nothing

Our urban skiers don't go to streets as the skis would be almost immediately destroyed. Usually they just go to some park and ski around it.

Ah ok. Yeah that sounds really hard. I'd love to go to school on skis but the hills are a pain in the ass to walk on when it's dry and I'd have no where to put my skis at school.

At least the skiiers can somewhat maneuver...I've seen people sledding/tubing down city streets.

true enough. Well since this is still legal, but skateboarding is not, I think I have an even bigger problem with it

At least a sled will go fast enough to keep up with traffic.
I was actually thinking about this and considering an explanation of why people should cross country ski on the ORV trails in the UP. Because there will be someone on a snowmobile going 75 mph and won't have time to stop if you're there trundling along.

I dont know what the legislation is on skiing, but cyclists cant legally ride on the sidewalk for more than one block over 6mph. But if they are on the street they have to have head and taillights and signal just like cars.

Did you ever see that video of the guy on the snowmobile getting attacked by the moose?

I did not, but I just watched two on youtube.
Didn't think the moose needed to be shot either time, imo.

Yeah the wicker park area of chicago saw these people in droves last year during our record snowfall. Atleast until the plows came through

Exchange St.!
I used to work a couple blocks from there, and lived in the West End for 5 years after college. And drove Peugeots for most of that time. Never even thought of X-country skiing down the middle of the street though. Always went to the Riverside golf course.
We should have a Maine Jalop meet-up sometime.
