Some time ago Fiat announced the Abarth 695 biposto which is a 500 on quite a lot of steroids. For an unfeasible amount of money (twice and more what a basic 500 will cost you) you get 190 bhp and all kinds of go faster goodies. You lose out on half of the seats (that's what the biposto bit means). And it doesn't stop there. You can get one of these. And you would. Oh yes you would. Just look at it. It's attached to a dog ring 'box which adds the price of a (very cheap) new car to the price. Tick enough boxes and your biposto can cost Cayman money.
But just look at it.

If I had the money I would buy this car just for that shifter.

Have you seen what the gearbox costs??
£8,500 for only five gears. Yes, really. There's no reason why they couldn't fit the lever to any old box of course, or indeed fit the fancy box with the standard lever.

It is so mad : LSD, straight cut gear, sequential gearbox, rollcage, carbon seat, all the rally stuff... in a road legal car ! How not to love it?

Wow that's high. I'm sure I could get the shifter working with a stock box, although the shifter itself probably costs hundreds if not thousands.

They've apparently taken orders for much more than the first year's production already.
It's not a sequential box though - look at the first image. It's a conventional H pattern.

Exposed billet shift linkages make me feel faint. I need this in my life.

it will take around 200 dollars of material and labor for this. It's all CNC'd aluminum and a cast piece of metal.

To me too. It's made by a company called Bacci Romano who offer a sequential box right here for a spectacular price.

See it in use here and note that the exposed gate is below the pivot point of the lever so it seems to operate the wrong way around.

and bearings, and rod ends, and push pull cables. that cast part is not small or simple either. probably 600$ though who know's what they'd charge at a dealer

Oh thanks, I didn't know this company existed. And the price isn't so much spectacular, that's the right price for a sequential gearbox. I think Sadev gearboxes (French motorsport gearboxes manufacturer) are in these range of price.
I browse their website and now I want a Limited Slip Diff and a short final gear for my Fiat Panda !
