It was on order for 3 months, but it's finally here. Couldn't be happier with it. It's not every day you take delivery on your first brand new car! For the curious, it's a Fusion Titanium AWD.
Thought I'd share my excitement with some fellow car enthusiasts. =) Feel free to ask any questions you like.

congrats! nice color too. I am no fan of modern american design, but the very first Fusion I saw of this gen was a white titanium. My facebook post on seeing it was "God damn Ford knocked it out of the park with the redesign of the Fusion" and I still believe that

Never thought about it. Blacking out the trim would probably look pretty good though. Right now the only things on my list are some new headlight bulbs, the stocks are pretty dim.

my go-to formula is a light tint on the headlights, a slightly darker on on the tails, yellow fog and black out chrome. I have yet to find a car that it doesnt work on.

For the curious, it's a Fusion Titanium AWD.
Damn, very nice. I've actually been pricing those out recently - you get quite a bit for not a whole lot. Plus it looks great, easily one of the best looking in its field, bested perhaps only by the Mazda6.

So far, just the way it looks. I really like how the blue pops against the dark rims. But it rides surprisingly well even with the big wheels.

Does the Fusion Ti have HIDs? Pictures look like projectors at least, so I'm surprised that the light output is disappointing. And if they are HIDs, be aware that the good bulbs are not cheap, around $200!

No, they're just projector halogens. Good light pattern but just not enough output. That's really the only thing it's missing that I wanted, but Ford doesn't offer HIDs in the Fusion on any trim. I still can't decide on whether to go all-in on an HID kit or just try some aftermarket halogen bulbs.

Sweet another Fusion owner. Here's mine 2013 1.6L SE Auto with LUX package.
I still sort of kick myself for not splurging on a Titanium. but at the time the numbers made sense on this one. I'm with you in the headlights I haven't changed them yet but they are a bit on the dim side.
The fusion is the only car I've owned(I've owned 11 cars so far) that if something happened to it I would just turn around and buy another one. It's that good! It is the perfect midsize sedan.

They've change the pricing structure on them for 2014 vs 2013. In 2013 you could only buy it with every single option including all the self parking, lane departure, ect.
For 2014 you can buy it for a whole lot less with 2.0L, AWD, leather, myford touch, backup camera, ect. as standard and all the super fancy stuff is now optional. I much prefer this pricing structure as the now "base" model Titanium is the exact way I would spec out the car with the only addition being the heated steering wheel.

It was. The Fusion came out here first as they needed to fix some quality issues in Europe before they could launch it. But the Fusion is the same car as the Mondeo in Europe except they can get a freaking diesel!!!.

Damn, that looks really good with those rims and the tint. I'm glad to hear someone who's had it for a while is still that happy with it. How do you like the 1.6? I tried out the 2.5 and the 2.0 but never had the chance to try that one. I haven't pushed it yet, but the 2.0 seems to have more than enough power for daily use so I'm thinking the 1.6 would be almost the same.

Hm, no available HIDs on the Fusion, that's silly. I did a quick search and it looks like plenty of folks have tried retrofits, so you've got a place to start at least.
Luc - The Acadian Oppo
> twosixteen
12/04/2014 at 12:33 | 0 |
The 1.6 is more than adequate for daily use. It's no rocket but the midrange torque makes it a bit more well rounded unit over the 2.5. I've never driven the 2.0 but I'm sure it's awesome(I wanted the 2.0 but we couldn't find the right one and I couldn't wait for a custom order) but the 1.6 has no lack of power for daily driving at all no matter who says otherwise. merging and passing are a non issue. I'm up to 23,000km's(14,375 miles) with no issues,no squeaks or rattles. The only thing is the wheels got replaced because the clear was peeling on them.

Ha, it was a really long few months. A rental is exactly how I liked it in the first place. National has some weird configuration with the 2.0L but base everything else that I rented for a few days. Still the most fun I've had with a rental outside of a 300C.

Thanks! It is the 2L, it comes standard on the Ti. It feels pretty powerful in the low-mid range, but I haven't pushed it too much. Gotta break in the motor for the first few hundred miles so it hasn't been over 4k.

put a good amount of miles on a rental ecoboost fusion. i can report that it may or may not be able to do burnouts and chirp 2nd leaving a tollboth.
it was a fun car to drive considering the segment it is in. surprisngly good handling, comfortable, powerful, good brakes, etc.

The heater is far too weak. like let the car warm up going down the road, turn it on full blast and watch your temp gauge drop back down to cold.
The Goodyear LS2's on mine suck in the snow. CRAZY understeer when snowy/icy. (the standard tire is much better I hear) The fuel economy gauge lies. the center arm rest isnt a little pass through trapdoor for my hockey sticks.
The 2.5 is a little under powered, I think the car needs maybe 30 more horsepower and 40 more ft/lbs of torque. The transmission was finnickey at first, but it learned my driving style after about a thousand miles.
The idle gets goofy if the windshield wiper and heater are going full bore.
Watch for potholes, i have seen a few of the nice titanium wheels that got bent from big holes.
Sync is persnickety sometimes and can piss me off, but overall I like the infotainment.
I'm about 15000 miles into a 30,000 mile lease. I just had my windshield crack for no reason, turned the heater on when it was cold and bang. Dealer said it was out of structural glass warranty 12 months or 12k mi. thank god for 100 dollar glass deductible.

I'm generally not an American car person.. But my god the Fusion is a great looking sedan! I always thought these were readily available so my question is why did you need to wait so long? Anything special with yours?
Also, don't these MSRP around $40,000? Why this over something German like the A4 or 3 series... They may not be the best but they usually are the more popular choice at that price range.
twosixteen
> JQJ213- Now With An Extra Cylinder!

I think it's the best looking American sedan in a long time. Nothing particularly special, though that trim and color combo are fairly rare and I wasn't in a rush.
MSRP on the Ti AWD is in the low 30s but you can push it close to 40k if you get everything. At that price you're only really in A3/CLA territory. I actually had an 09 A4 for a while and this feels very similar, but you get a lot more for your money here. The fusion rides and drives almost as well as that a4 did.

Congrats! I have a white Titanium myself. :-)
Looks great in that blue with those wheels. And good for you for ordering (and waiting for) exactly what you wanted...if you're going to live with a car for a while you should get it how you want it!
And you're right, the one weak point on the car is headlights. Would love to do a swap at some point.
