Even though it was stated to be pretty good, the Trax is getting exclusively bashed on the FP for the most part.
YetI can almost guarantee if that had a Toyota or Hyundai or literally anything but a GM-centric badge on the front it would be praised. And frankly, the whole "Oh GM is the antichrist blah-blah-blah recalls, ignition switch deaths." bullshit is getting really, really , really Old.
Shit, even the article about the Colorado winning Truck of the Year on Motor Trend had comments bashing the Colorado and calling it a failure... Even though it had just won Truck of the fucking Year!! Beating the damn all-aluminum F-150 with it's EcoBoost magic!
And I just noticed a couple days ago on my SS thing that got FP'd that whoever published it there said "Logansteno, somehow still a GM fan." Somehow? I'm sorry that I can look past them "stealing our tax dollars" and whatever the fuck else they've done (which at this point might be everything in the world, including global warming and starting WWII) and see they build good, and in some cases world beating cars.

Only good cars to come out of the GM camp recently is the Z06 and Z/28. Everyone also knows the Motor Trend Truck of the year is a joke.
Also thats a nice Buick.

It's actually pretty good. The features are nice, it looks a lot better in person, It's roomy, comfortable, and reasonably equipped. Overall, it's pretty nice. Plus, it's a distant cousin of the Sonic RS.

I'm pretty sure the GXP was more than $32k. Maybe that got you a 6.0L GT. And I'm sure there's some inflation involved along with the SS's interior and options list being far more than the G8s ever was.
I said it'd be kinda stupid to kill the 2.5L and 3.6L engines as they're GM's bread-and-butter engines that they shove in a lot of things.

The Trax is actually the kind of car I want to buy for a commuter.
AWD higher ride height for Michigan Snow.
But it suffers from the same problem as the Subaru XV crosstrek.
crappy powertrain.
the 1.4t is a complete and total turd in something this heavy, its hardly adequate for the damned Sonic RS, the added drive train loss of the AWD must make it a sickly dog.
This needs the 2.0 turbo or at least the 1.6l turbo from europe, Just like the XV needs the 2.0T from the WRX.

The new F-150 hasn't even hit shot room floors yet and neither has the Colorado so I can't even take that truck of the year seriously.
Sonic and Cruze loses to the FiST and the FoST , the Malibu is garbage (Have driven a new one btw) compared to the Taurus or even a Charger. Also the only good CTS is the CTS-V Wagon and thats going away. Also the ATS is just kinda there. The S4 or a Charger Hellcat or even a Non Hellcat SRT Charger are better buys.

But, I haven't put much stock in Motor Trend's ____ of the year awards ever since they picked the Chevy Malibu in '97.

You are completely and utterly wrong if you think that the only CTS that is good is the CTS V wagon. The new chassis is leaps and bounds above the old one.
You need to stop looking at facts and figures and drive a few of the cars you are criticizing so wildly and comically.

That's why I see Colorados on the road already? And at the Chevy dealer I drive past daily.
If you're gonna try and fuck them over, at least make comparisons to the right cars.
The Sonic and Cruze both compete with the non-ST cars from Ford. GM doesn't make an ST fighter so it's pointless to compare. The Malibu goes against the Camry and Accord. And bullshit on the CTS and ATS which have been praised by anyone who's driven them.

"The G8 lives within a narrow price band, and the optional furbelows are few. Just $27,595 puts you into the base G8, with a 256-hp, 3.6-liter four-cam V-6 and the 5L40 five-speed automatic. The GT, with its 361-hp, 6.0-liter V-8 and six-speed 6L80 Hydra-Matic, starts delivering 5.3-second barrels to 60 mph for $29,995. With all options, the GT rises to $32,745."

Colorados are definitely in the showrooms.
Sonic and Cruze don't really have a trim level that compares to the ST's anyways.
Malibu is just biege. Needs to go back to its roots. Nevertheless, it does not compete with the Taurus or Charger. Malibu/Fusion/200, Impala/Taurus/Charger.
Is it really confirmed that there will be no new CTS wagon? That's sad ;(

Personally, it's not a matter of the GM badge. I'd take a Buick Encore, but just based on the pictures, I'd prefer the very cool looking 500X or the even cooler looking Renegade over the rather boring looking Trax. Obvoiusly driving them could change that.

GM had an old Holden that would have fit the bill nicely for $30k and then they killed the division that sold it. This is exactly what happened to the Pontiac Banshee. GM killed it off and Chevy was able to swoop in and put a bowtie on it and sell it for more money (C3 Corvette). Also, GM neutered the new Regal GS. Fuck. 'Em.

I love how GM engineers are responsible for the death of 30 people, but it's okay because they apologized. It's not the "stealing the tax dollars", Ford and Dodge got some too, it is the complete lack of care GM showed for the better part of 40 years. I know I going to get flamed again, but I don't really give a shit. Yes, Takata should have done more, but they didn't. Yes, GM apologized and makes the Corvette, but that doesn't get back the lost loved ones their shit quality control is responsible for. They may eventually make the best cars on the road, but I in good conscience could never buy one.

I know everyone is supposed to be prepared for every situation, but not everyone is. Unassisted steering in something with power steering is a bitch. Not everyone is strong enough to hold it. Not everyone knows that when your power brakes fail, you have one final depression. Since it was a cheap fix, it should have never happened in the first place. The people responsible should be legally charged.

What are they supposed to do, charge everyone in the company for manslaughter or something? They're already paying a hefty fine for it and I'm pretty sure the main engineer responsible was fired and might have charges, but I'm not sure because I don't follow the whole thing other than making sure our cars aren't effected.

Since Kinja is Kinja-ing your last comment for me, I will reply to this. I don't mean charge everybody, but just the execs that okay'd this. They basically pulled the plug on 30+ people due to their inept abilities.

They already fired the head engineer who signed off on it, and he might or might not have charges, I'm not sure.
