After two years of 70 hour weeks, I'm definitely starting to burn out. What are your tricks to keep mentally steady?

Sleep. Plenty of it. Barring real sleep, catnaps are a great way to reboot your brain.

Use all of your vacation time, spaced evenly. At the minimum take a full week every 6 months. When you do, don't play on your phone *working* at any point. Go to a beach, or a ski resort, or to vegas, or a nice remote seedy hotel with an abundant local supply of hookers and blow.
Whatever you do, make sure you completely shut out work for a week. It will pay huuuuuge dividends when you return, trust me.

I worked basically nonstop at least that many hours for too long. Naps. I used to never take naps, now I use watching tv or a movie with my girlfriend as the ultimate excuse.
We dont go out at night much other than dinner once in a while, so Im a big fan of passing out on the couch with her instead. It happens fairly often now too. It usually starts with "ill just close my eyes for this commercial" and that turns into an hour or more of sleep.

I've been doing it for a few more years than that and its a combination of a) spacing it out, b) being young / not having kids. We just had a baby and i am lucky if i can work 10 hours in a day now. But before I would get up 7ish, work a few hours at home, drive to the office. Then leave around 3, work another hour or two. Eat dinner, hang out with my wife, then get back online around 9 and work until midnight. I also would pack in around 8 hours each weekend - same kind of deal. Work an hour in the morning, hour after lunch, two hours in the evening, etc.I know thats not possible for a lot of jobs though

As much outside time as you can get. Even just a walk (lunch at work is a good time for a quick walk), if not a run or a bike ride or something like that. Ideally by yourself and without a phone or music, but pushing a stroller works, or if your kids/spouse aren't overly talkative that works well, too. The idea is to get some space to let your head calm down and sort out a bit. Late night interesting-but-not-work-related reading worked for me, too (Smithsonian magazine was good, though often bridged in to my field).
