Another month, and this intersection still sucks.

I moved to an apartment that is near an intersection, and I'm quite enjoying the occasional accent I get to observe. Twice in a month now I've heard loud screeching, followed by the brutal sound of a collision, and run out to the balcony to observe the damage.

Though, I can't make fun of the drivers too much because the intersection is completely stupid and, quite frankly, I'm surprised there aren't more accidents.

My mom's house is next to I-80, and it's always funny to hear someone lay on the horn as they pass because there's a merge next to our house that people constantly fuck up. More often than not the horn you hear is that of a truck.

Really weird that when this Durango ran a red light in front of me, it was a Nissan Versa that was almost hit. Just like that white one.

But ya, Texas drivers for you. And that really is a stupid intersection.

What blows my mind is people who will honk at a car instead of actually AVOIDING it. Honestly, I only ever honk when someone is just doing something REALLY retarded that isn't immediately going to cause a collision with me. Like if someone makes a left turn in front of me at an intersection and causes me to have to cover the brake or slow down somewhat sharply just in case, I'll honk the shit out of them. But if someone cuts me off in a manner that causes me to have to panic stop or take evasive action, I'm not going to busy myself with honking. We've moved past that stage. Honking isn't going to do anything. Hell, just two days ago I was driving down the road past a row of stopped cars and sure enough one of them pulled out in front of me, causing me to have to slam on the brakes. No honking occurred. They realized what they did, and everyone else saw me avoid them like a bad-ass. Honking would just have been excessive. I even let them finish pulling out in front of me instead of huffing around them all pissed off-like.

I especially love the Russian dash cam videos where a car is careening out of control towards the camera vehicle, who lays on their horn. What part of CAREENING OUT OF CONTROL don't you understand?!

I saw one where a guy honked at an out of control parachutists who was plummeting toward his car. Dafuq?

Not in every situation, but part of my automatic reaction when someone does something like that is to honk. Exception is when I have to do some steering (i.e. swerve around something), but if it only involves braking, or isn't an immediate danger, I use my horn. And even then, not often. Only maybe once or twice a month.

That back Lincoln Town car must have been going pretty quick. Otherwise, its brakes are atrocious.
