So, without Googling it, how big do you think the front brake rotors on my Jetta Sportwagen are? 250mm? 265mm? 275mm?
Nope!
312mm front, 272mm rear
Is that insane or what?!

I just looked it up, my WRX (with the 4-pot/2-pot setup, not Brembos) are 294mm front, 290mm rear. So yeah, damn.

Sounds sporty and wageney. Pretty good vs. curb weight. I'm going to have somewhere around 250mm in the back of my project and 290 up front, because both of my parts donors are >4000lb vehicles. Heh. (~2500lb car)

lol I'm pretty sure mine are single piston calipers all around :P
Gotta love GTI brakes though! Although some loon was crazy enough to swap a set of R32 brakes on to his JSW... 345mm front and 312 rear!

Mine are 302 mm front/ 316 mm rear, but they're only 2/1 pistons.

Yeah, mine are just small enough that I can downsize to 16" wheels and still fit the brakes. Because rallycar.

Mine came stock on 16s :P
I'm looking into getting some 18x8 or 19x9 wheels for it eventually. At least the brakes aren't tiny like on every corolla rolling on 16 or 17" wheels ;)

wat
More like 1500 lbs (or more)... My wagen is only 3200 curb weight (that's what it says on the door tag)

The real problem is that Subaru offsets are kind of dumb...I think there are 15" Compomotives that fit over the 4-pot/2-pots, but only in +55 offset.

Just looked it up, and both a Jetta Sportwagen and a GD WRX weigh between 3200 and 3400 lbs.

Oh. I thought we were comparing gross weight. GVWR is 4880, ~5K. Curb weight of the Jeep is 3880 lbs.

Yeah, I think they are quite large considering what the car was intended for :P

261mm front/283mm rear with 4/2 pistons on the 245. So racy that the Lemons car uses stock rotors and calipers.

But the standard Golf TDI has 288mm front brakes though... hell even the Veloster Turbo only has 299mm front brakes!

SHIT! At that price if someone does a big brake upgrade and doesn't track their car. I'm under the impression that they are doing it for flaunting purposes.
'Yo brah! Check out ma brakes they way bigger than yours'. (infact I know a guy who is obsessed with comparing brake sizes, Cracks me up..)
My dads Q7 has that 6 piston setup, it's a heavy car it needs it!

Rear
How about those sporty wagon brakes? (Your rotors are still pretty impressive. Stock VW stuff?)

I want that 6 piston setup! I do track my car (sort of). I autocross it regularly!

Yep. The wagon is completely stock (for now)... It still gives GTIs a run for their money at the autocross (I run about 3-5 seconds per lap slower than the modified 04 GTI with 245 tires and bigger brakes) First upgrade? Either coilovers or front and rear swaybars!

For the Murdersofa?!?! WTF GM actually made brakes that big besides for the Corvette?

I suppose. A C5 corvette has 325.12mm rotors.
The murdersofa is a lot of mass to stop, and safety was its key selling point, so big brakes were a must. I need $80 so I can get slotted/cross-drilled rotors up front to help with the horrendous brake fade I have.

My brakes are very effective :) I even took a video this afternoon of a 60-0 test! I didn't upload and post it because it ended up being sideways and very... grainy to say the least :(
However the 60-0 took about 4 seconds ;)

Nice. I need to do that. My new tires are so sticky that my brakes can't actually get them to break loose when I stomp on the brakes.

280mm front, 295mm rear on my wagon (Volvo 850 T-5).
Though IMO the car is horrendously under-braked considering a) how fast it is and b) how much load it's made to carry. I'm not sure if my particular car's braking system is just in need of attention (the front rotors are definitely a bit warped and the fluid looks a little on the dark side) or if the brakes are simply not good enough from the factory, which sounds really odd, considering Volvo's concern for safety. I've heard of fellow 850 drivers complaining of the same lack of braking power though, so I'm considering upgrading the brakes in a few months, once I overhaul the entire system.
